Nintendo delivered three surprise releases during its latest Indie World Showcase, bringing two of the highest-rated indie games from recent years to Switch 2 alongside a new console exclusive.
The critically acclaimed twin-stick shooter Minishoot' Adventures arrived on Nintendo's platform after nearly two years as a PC-exclusive title. Originally released in April 2024, the game maintains a 98% positive rating across over 3,500 Steam user reviews and holds an 88 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic with unanimous critic recommendations.
Developed by SoulGame Studio, Minishoot' Adventures combines Zelda-inspired exploration with bullet hell mechanics in colorful 2D environments. Players upgrade ships to tackle challenging boss fights while dealing with interconnected worlds. The title ranked among the top 25 highest-rated games of its release year alongside major titles like Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Alongside Minishoot' Adventures, Nintendo shadow-dropped Blue Prince, a first-person puzzle game that earned a 90 overall rating on OpenCritic following its 2025 debut. The award-winning title previously launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X to widespread critical acclaim, winning Best Indie Game at The Golden Joystick Awards.
Blue Prince tasks players with dealing with a procedurally generated mansion to reach Room 46 through strategic room placement and puzzle solving. Each run offers limited daily steps, requiring careful planning to avoid locking progression paths. The Switch 2 version supports mouse controls alongside traditional controller options.
The third surprise release was Rotwood, a side-scrolling hack-and-slash brawler from Don't Starve developer Klei Entertainment. This console-exclusive title supports up to four-player co-op both locally and online, targeting fans of similar action games like Absolum or Towerborne.
All three titles became available immediately following the fifteen-minute Indie World presentation. Minishoot' Adventures expanded beyond its original PC and mobile availability to include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and both Switch generations simultaneously.
The showcase also revealed upcoming indie releases including Blighted from Guacamelee developer Drinkbox Studios arriving this autumn, diorama puzzle game Woodo launching this summer with Switch 2 mouse control support, and roguelike first-person shooter Deadzone: Rogue scheduled for March 17.
Nintendo's triple shadow drop strategy delivers immediate high-quality content to Switch 2 owners while demonstrating continued third-party support for the platform. Both Minishoot' Adventures and Blue Prince represent critically validated experiences that previously required other hardware or extended waiting periods for console availability.
