Google Wallet Integrates with TSA PreCheck Touchless ID for Faster Airport Security

Android users with TSA PreCheck can now leave their physical ID in their pocket. Google Wallet is the first digital wallet to integrate with TSA's PreCheck Touchless ID program, letting eligible travelers verify their identity using facial comparison technology at airport security checkpoints.

The TSA and Google announced the partnership on June 24, rolling out over the coming weeks. The setup is straightforward: travelers check in with a participating airline, add their boarding pass to Google Wallet, and if eligible, see a "Get started" button that redirects them to a TSA consent page.

Once approved, the boarding pass updates with a Touchless ID indicator. The system works at 65 airports nationwide and supports all 100-plus TSA PreCheck airlines at participating locations. Google's announcement notes that previously, travelers had to manually upload passport information for each airline individually with one of six carriers (Alaska, American, Delta, Hawaiian, Southwest, or United).

The new integration bypasses that friction entirely. At the checkpoint, passengers walk through dedicated lanes using secure facial comparison, eliminating the usual document handoff. The ID verification happens outside the Google Wallet app, and enrolled users won't need to open the app at all once they've completed setup.

"TSA under President Trump and Secretary Mullin is fully dedicated to enhancing the passenger experience through advanced technology and strategic partnerships," said TSA Modernization Acting Chief Innovation Officer Shelu Patel in a press release. "Our collaboration with Google helps our trusted TSA PreCheck travelers enjoy the fastest route through airport security."

P.J. Linarducci, Google's vice president of product management for Consumer Payments, said the collaboration matches Google's goal to make digital experiences more secure and convenient, adding that the rollout comes just as the busy summer travel season gets underway.

The integration requires TSA PreCheck approval, a boarding pass added to Google Wallet, and a local ID Pass created on the device. Once those conditions are met, the opt-in prompt appears directly on the digital boarding pass.

This matters for millions of Android users who previously had no digital-wallet path into the Touchless ID system.
