World's End Club launched on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on February 9, ending its five-year absence from Microsoft's platform.
The 2D side-scrolling action-adventure arrived without prior announcement or marketing, a quiet release for a game that spent years as a Nintendo Switch console exclusive.
Publisher IzanagiGames and developer Too Kyo Games priced the Xbox version at $19.99 through the Microsoft Store. The game previously reached PlayStation 5 in July 2025 after its initial Switch debut in May 2021.
World's End Club first appeared on iOS devices in September 2020 as an Apple Arcade title. A Windows version followed in November 2021, establishing the game across multiple platforms while consistently skipping Xbox hardware.
The game represents a collaboration between Zero Escape creator Kotaro Uchikoshi and Danganronpa's Kazutaka Kodaka. Their involvement positions World's End Club as what the developers describe as a "dream team" adventure game blending narrative depth with 2D action-puzzle sequences.
Set in 1995 Tokyo, the story follows twelve elementary school students trapped in an underwater theme park. Players guide protagonist Reycho and his friends through side-scrolling combat and environmental puzzles while uncovering mysteries about a global catastrophe.
Between adventure segments, the game features camp sequences where players can strengthen relationships between characters. This bonding mechanic reflects the creators' previous work on narrative-driven series like Danganronpa and Zero Escape.
The Xbox release marks a notable exception for Japanese-developed titles with Western console availability. Many similar games historically launched on PlayStation and Switch while bypassing Microsoft's ecosystem entirely.
Too Kyo Games, founded in 2017 by industry veterans, developed World's End Club as their second title following interactive film adventure Death Come True. The studio has also co-produced anime projects including Akudama Drive and Tribe Nine.
Microsoft's acquisition of the game comes amid broader industry shifts toward multiplatform releases. Earlier in 2025, reports suggested Microsoft planned additional Xbox game ports to Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, part of a larger trend that includes major Xbox franchises coming to PlayStation in 2026.
World's End Club currently supports Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X consoles. The game maintains compatibility across Microsoft's current and next-generation hardware as the company prepares future Xbox iterations.
The unannounced release follows a pattern for Uchikoshi's work on Xbox platforms. His Zero Escape series, including 2009's 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, arrived on Xbox hardware years after initial launches on other systems.
Priced at £16.74 in the UK and €19.99 in Europe, World's End Club offers approximately 10-15 hours of gameplay. The title blends visual novel storytelling with action mechanics across its journey through post-apocalyptic Japan.
IzanagiGames and Too Kyo Games confirmed the Xbox release through store listings rather than traditional announcements. No new trailers or social media promotions accompanied the game's sudden availability on Microsoft's platform.
