That spinning Wi-Fi icon on your Huawei Pura 70 Pro is frustrating, especially when you're trying to download something from the AppGallery or stream a video. Wi-Fi problems on EMUI 14.2 are usually a quick software fix, not a hardware failure. Let's get you back online.

Toggle Wi-Fi and Restart Your Phone

Start with the simplest fix. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Control Panel and tap the Wi-Fi icon to turn it off. Wait about ten seconds, then tap it again to turn it back on. This forces the phone's radio to re-scan for networks and can clear up a temporary glitch.

If that doesn't work, restart your Pura 70 Pro. Press and hold the power button until the power off menu appears, then tap restart. A fresh boot clears out any stuck processes in the Kirin 9010 chipset that might be interfering with connectivity.

Use Airplane Mode to Reset Radios

This trick works on any phone. Swipe down to the Control Panel and tap the airplane icon to enable Airplane Mode. This shuts down Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth all at once. Wait for 15-20 seconds, then tap the icon again to disable it. This gives all the wireless hardware a clean slate to reconnect.

Forget the Network and Re-enter Your Password

Your phone might be holding onto corrupted login data. Go to Settings > Mobile Network > Wi-Fi. Tap on the network name you're trying to use, then select Forget this network. Now, find the network in the list again, tap it, and carefully type in your password. This is crucial if you've recently changed your Wi-Fi password.

Check for Bluetooth Interference

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can sometimes fight over the 2.4GHz band. Try turning off Bluetooth from your Control Panel to see if your Wi-Fi connection stabilizes. If it does, you've found the issue. You can usually turn Bluetooth back on afterward, as the interference is often just during the initial connection phase.

Disable Wi-Fi+

Huawei's Wi-Fi+ feature is designed to intelligently switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data for the best experience. Sometimes, it can be a bit too aggressive. Go to Settings > Mobile Network > Wi-Fi+ and turn the toggle off. See if your connection becomes more stable without it managing the network.

Turn Off Power Saving Modes

Ultra power-saving modes on the Pura 70 Pro can limit background network activity to save battery. If you have any battery saver enabled, go to Settings > Battery and disable it. Your Wi-Fi should return to full strength immediately if this was the cause.

Update Your System Software

Huawei releases updates for EMUI that often include fixes for connectivity and performance. Go to Settings > System & updates > Software update and tap CHECK FOR UPDATES. Installing the latest patch can resolve bugs that affect the Wi-Fi module.

Verify Your Date and Time Settings

Incorrect time settings can break the security certificates needed for Wi-Fi authentication. Navigate to Settings > System & updates > Date & time. Make sure the Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone options are both turned on.

Reset Your Network Settings

This is a more thorough step that clears all network-related data. Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Reset network settings. This will erase all saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and mobile data settings. You'll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi and re-pair Bluetooth devices afterward.

Restart Your Wi-Fi Router

The issue might not be your phone at all. Unplug your router from power, wait a full 60 seconds, and plug it back in. This clears the router's memory and often resolves conflicts. If other devices in your home are also struggling to connect, the router is almost certainly the source of the problem.

While you're at it, check if your router has a firmware update available through its admin page. An outdated router can have trouble communicating with newer phones like the 2024 Pura 70 Pro.

Boot Into Safe Mode

A third-party app you installed could be causing the conflict. To check, press and hold the power button until the power off menu appears. Then, tap and hold the Power off option on your screen until you see a prompt to reboot into Safe Mode. Tap OK.

In Safe Mode, all downloaded apps are disabled. Test your Wi-Fi. If it works perfectly here, an app is the culprit. You'll need to restart your phone to exit Safe Mode and then uninstall recent apps one by one to find the offender.

Consider a Factory Reset

This is your last resort before considering a hardware issue. A factory reset will wipe your phone back to its original state. Before you do this, ensure you have a complete backup. You can use Huawei's built-in backup tool or manually transfer files to a computer.

To proceed, go to Settings > System & updates > Reset > Factory data reset. Follow the prompts. After the reset, set up the phone as new and test Wi-Fi before restoring your backup, in case the backup contains corrupted data.
