Updating your ASUS laptop takes more than checking one app. ASUS drivers, Windows, and your everyday apps have separate update channels. Start with MyASUS, then work through the steps below for Windows, manual downloads, and BIOS updates, or jump to the ChromeOS section for an ASUS Chromebook.
Start with MyASUS for ASUS updates
On supported ASUS Windows laptops, MyASUS brings driver, firmware, BIOS, and utility updates together.
- 1.Open MyASUS > System Update.
- 2.Select the available packages you want to install. For a BIOS package, follow the BIOS precautions below before continuing.
- 3.Select Update Selected Items and let installation finish.
- 4.Restart when requested.
- 5.Open Update history to review the installed updates.
Bring Windows and its drivers up to date
Windows Update updates the operating system and automatically installs recommended drivers.
On Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Windows Update.
Select Check for Windows updates.
Select Download & install for updates that offer that button.
For an ASUS firmware update, follow the BIOS precautions below before restarting.
Restart when prompted.
Let any ASUS firmware update screen finish with the charger connected.
For optional drivers, open Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.
Select the driver updates you need.
Select Download and install.
Restart after installation.
Download drivers directly from ASUS
Use manual downloads after reinstalling Windows or when your laptop does not support MyASUS System Update. Match the package to your exact laptop model, operating system, and hardware.
Find your exact model in the ASUS Download Center.
Open the model's Support > Driver & Tools page. On product pages, use Driver & Utility > Driver & Tools.
Select your model if the page requests it.
Select your operating system.
Use EXPAND ALL to reveal additional categories.
Use Show all to see other versions of a package.
Select Download beside the package you need.
For a ZIP download, select Extract All.
Run the downloaded application.
Approve the User Account Control prompt with Yes.
Choose your language.
Select OK.
Select Next to continue to the agreement.
Accept the agreement.
Choose Install rather than the extraction option. Installer screens vary by package.
Continue through the remaining Next prompts.
Select Install to install the package.
When a restart is requested, select Yes, restart the computer now.
Select Finish.
For a supported Qualcomm or ARM-based ASUS laptop, download Driver Package > Board Support Package from the model's page. It includes BIOS and system, multimedia, peripheral, and connectivity drivers.
Follow the BIOS precautions below before running the Board Support Package installer.
Update apps through their own channels
Your apps have their own update checks. Open Microsoft Store > Downloads to check for available updates and update the apps you use, including MyASUS. Some Store layouts call this page Updates and downloads.
Publisher-managed apps also use their own updaters. In Chrome, open More > Help > About Google Chrome to start an update check.
Select Relaunch when Chrome offers it to finish applying the update.
Take extra care with BIOS updates
Before installing BIOS or firmware updates, retain your BitLocker recovery key, connect AC power, meet the displayed battery requirement, and do not interrupt flashing.
- 1.On a supported Intel or AMD laptop, open MyASUS > System Update.
- 2.Select BIOS Update for Windows or BIOS Installer for Windows, then select Update Selected Items.
- 3.Select Confirm, followed by Restart.
- 4.At the firmware confirmation screen, select Yes or Confirm, according to the interface.
- 5.Keep the charger connected and let the update and restart finish without interruption.
Use gaming tools for supported hardware
Connect your compatible ROG or TUF laptop to its charger.
Open ARMOURY CRATE > Settings > Update Center.
Select Check for Updates.
Install the offered component, firmware, or driver updates.
For a supported NVIDIA GPU, open NVIDIA app > Drivers.
Use the upper-right driver selector to choose Game Ready or Studio drivers.
Select Download for the chosen driver.
Select Install after the download finishes.
Start with ASUS-specific drivers from MyASUS or your model's support page, since component-vendor packages can differ from ASUS-tested packages.
Check missing MyASUS update options
No System Update page means that feature is unsupported on your laptop. It requires ASUS System Control Interface and is unavailable in Windows S mode. Installing MyASUS alone does not add unsupported hardware features.
Open MyASUS > Settings > About to see the app and ASUS System Control Interface versions. Update MyASUS through Microsoft Store. Update the supporting driver through Windows Update or your exact model's ASUS downloads.
If your installation includes the setting, open MyASUS > Settings > General and set Automatic Critical Update to On. ASUS documents the setting but not its exact coverage, so keep checking System Update for anything it does not deliver.
Support for the standalone ASUS Live Update utility ended December 4, 2025, at final version 3.6.15, and ASUS says the app has been integrated into MyASUS on newer laptops. ASUS's current update documentation teaches System Update, so use MyASUS > System Update or your model's ASUS support downloads.
Switch to ChromeOS updates on an ASUS Chromebook
ASUS Chromebooks use the ChromeOS update process. These steps apply to models still eligible for ChromeOS updates.
Connect your Chromebook to Wi-Fi.
Select the time.
Open Settings > About ChromeOS.
Select Check for updates.
Let the download finish.
Select Restart when prompted.
ChromeOS also checks automatically and displays an Update available notification.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I update the BIOS on an ARM-based ASUS laptop?
On supported models, open MyASUS > System Update. Select BSP, then Update Selected Items. After downloading, select Restart and let the firmware update and automatic restart finish. Before starting, retain your BitLocker recovery key, connect AC power, and meet the displayed battery requirement. Do not interrupt flashing.
What if an ASUS driver download has no normal installer?
Extract the package and read InstallStep.txt. For packages with script-based instructions, open PowerShell as administrator in that folder and run the exact command specified in the file.
Does updating ASUS drivers keep Windows 10 supported?
No. Standard Windows 10 support ended October 14, 2025. Continued consumer security servicing requires eligible Extended Security Updates enrollment. ASUS driver updates do not replace that coverage.
Why are update controls locked on my work laptop?
Your organization's settings control update availability on managed laptops. Ask your administrator when update controls are locked.
