Need to disconnect Steam from your EA Account? You can do it through EA’s website without installing a launcher, but changing the connection puts access to your purchases and progress at risk. Here’s what to check first, how to unlink, and where to turn if EA blocks the change.
Check what stays with your EA Account
Your progress and entitlements stay with the original EA Account. EA is blunt about what happens next: link Steam to a different EA Account and your game progress will not transfer, which means you permanently lose access to progress, DLC and expansions, memberships and subscriptions, previous drops and rewards, and in-game purchases. EA also states that you cannot move your games or personas to another account yourself.
Unlinking does not transfer your content. If you want to keep playing with your existing progress, start by recovering access to the original EA Account.
Unlink through the EA Account website
Use this method when you can sign in to the EA Account connected to Steam. All you need is a browser.
Sign in to your EA Account at myaccount.ea.com. Then open Connected Accounts and select Unlink beside Steam.
Read the warning. Stop here if you want to keep the connection because of the risks to your content. Complete the confirmation and any identity-verification prompts.
For another way into the same account portal, select Manage linked accounts on EA Help. Sign in if prompted, then continue with the unlinking steps above.
Open account settings from the EA app
Already have the EA app open? Use it to reach the same web account settings.

Sign in with Steam if you forgot your EA login
Your linked Steam credentials provide another way into the associated EA Account. Identity verification and account restrictions still apply.
Open myaccount.ea.com while signed out of EA. Choose the Steam sign-in option, then sign in with the Steam account that is currently linked.
Open Connected Accounts in the associated EA Account. Select Unlink beside Steam, then complete the confirmation and verification prompts. If Steam sign-in fails to restore access, use EA’s account-recovery support route below.
Handle an old or expired account prompt
This route disconnects an old or expired EA Account when your game presents EA’s recovery flow. Launch your EA game from Steam.
Select Unlink and Create New when the old or expired account prompt appears. This option belongs to that recovery flow; it is not an always-available game setting. Confirm that you want to unlink the account.
At the game’s start screen, sign in with the EA Account you want to use, or select Create account to make one. Access to your original progress and purchases remains at risk.
Contact EA when unlinking is blocked
EA allows linked accounts to be switched up to three times in a rolling year. Disabled, banned, or suspended accounts cannot unlink. Those restrictions require account recovery or a successful appeal before unlinking is available.
Select Contact us at the bottom of EA’s unlinking troubleshooting page. If you also need account recovery, prepare your original EA email address, linked usernames, and EA purchase invoice numbers. Follow the support prompts to explain your Steam-linking problem. EA Support offers account assistance, but contacting support does not guarantee manual unlinking or an exception to eligibility rules.

Can I unlink my EA Account from inside Steam?
EA provides no supported unlink command in the Steam client or mobile app. Use the EA Account website.
Will deleting my EA Account let me link Steam to another one?
No. EA says connected platform accounts cannot be used with another EA Account after deletion. Deleting the account is not an unlinking workaround.
Can I still follow an Origin tutorial to unlink Steam?
The EA app has replaced Origin on PC and Mac. Use the EA Account website or the EA app’s account-settings entry point instead of an Origin tutorial.
Is replacing my linked Steam account the same as moving Steam to another EA Account?
No. Replacing Steam means keeping your EA Account and attaching a different Steam account. EA’s Battlefield 6 replacement workflow requires the old Steam connection to be at least 12 months old.
