A strange tint on your OnePlus 7T makes everyday browsing frustrating. Start by checking whether the color change follows one app or affects the screen more broadly. These checks help you narrow down the cause and decide when the display needs inspection.

Compare Chrome’s themes

This adjusts Chrome’s appearance, not the display’s calibration. Open Chrome, then tap More. Go to Settings > Theme and select Light.

Compare the same content with Dark. Try System Default to see whether the appearance follows Chrome’s theme. A difference between themes does not mean an uneven screen has been repaired.

Use a screenshot to narrow things down

Compare a screenshot of the affected content on another display. Treat the result as a clue, not a verdict on your phone’s hardware.

A normal-looking screenshot does not prove that your OnePlus 7T’s screen is faulty. Android’s Simulate color space setting changes the phone’s displayed colors without changing its screenshots.

Update the affected app

For tint confined to one app, install its available compatible update; an update does not guarantee a tint-specific fix.

  1. 1.Open Google Play Store and tap your profile icon.
  2. 2.Select Manage apps & device > Updates available > See details.
  3. 3.Tap Update beside the affected app.
  4. 4.Reopen the app and compare the same content again.

Remove a suspect screen-filter app

If the color changed after you installed a screen-filter, dimmer, or another downloaded app, check that app next. Remove suspect apps individually so you can tell which removal changes the result.

Open Google Play Store, then tap your profile icon. Go to Manage apps & devices > Manage and select the suspect app.

Tap Uninstall. Check the screen again before removing another suspect app.

Undo developer color simulation

Colors changed after you adjusted developer settings? Open Developer options if it is already enabled. This check applies to devices that offer Simulate color space.

Select Simulate color space > Disabled. Color simulation alters the displayed colors while leaving screenshots unchanged, so a normal screenshot is no reason to skip this check.

Check the original display settings

The OnePlus 7T manual documents its launch interface. The following paths apply to that original software, and menu labels on the final OxygenOS 12 firmware can differ.

On the original interface, open Settings > Display > Night Mode and turn the filter off. Disable Night Mode’s automatic activation as well to check whether the tint comes from an intentional display filter.

Turn off Reading Mode under Settings > Display > Reading Mode. Compare the available color modes under Settings > Display > Screen calibration. This changes the screen’s appearance and does not establish that panel nonuniformity has been repaired.

For a brightness comparison, disable Adaptive brightness under Settings > Display. Adjust the brightness and compare the same content.

Separately compare the Screen refresh rate settings in the original Display menu. Treat this as a diagnostic comparison. To compare the system’s light theme, select Settings > Customization > Tone > Light. If Color inversion is enabled, turn it off under Settings > System > Accessibility > Color inversion.

Get persistent localized tint inspected

Persistent tint in one area needs a display inspection when app checks do not resolve it. Ask OnePlus support to confirm OnePlus 7T parts availability and the repair price. Service acceptance and replacement-display availability are not guaranteed.

Open the US OnePlus Repair Service page, then select Request Repair. Submit the repair application. Follow the shipping instructions supplied for your request.

Use My Service Requests to track its progress. Confirm warranty coverage directly with OnePlus. General screen tint does not automatically qualify for green-line warranty terms or a free replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use Chrome’s Dynamic color gamut flag to fix tint?

No. The old Dynamic color gamut flag is absent from Chromium’s current flag metadata. Chromium still ships a permanent developer entry, Force color profile, that can pin rendering to sRGB, but Chromium documents it for developers and manual testing, so treat chrome://flags as an experimental surface rather than an official tint fix.

Why do OnePlus 7T instructions show different menus?

The OnePlus 7T launched with an earlier interface and later received Android 12 with OxygenOS 12. Regional builds and subsequent hotfixes differed, so F.18 is not a universal final build.

Should I try DC dimming or recovery-cache wiping?

Neither has a current official OnePlus 7T procedure for fixing tint. The DC dimming instructions in the original 7T manual describe its launch software and should not be treated as an OxygenOS 12 fix.

Does Google provide safe-mode instructions specifically for the OnePlus 7T?

No. Google describes safe mode as a way to isolate downloaded-app problems, but directs users to the manufacturer for device-specific entry instructions.
