LinkedIn verification stalls on a loading screen, rejects your ID, or finishes without adding a badge to your profile. The fix depends on which process is blocking you: Persona, CLEAR, DigiLocker, workplace verification, or a sign-in identity check. Start with the options your account offers, then use the steps for the screen where you are stuck. For verification that prevents you from signing in, go straight to the account-recovery section.

Start with the verification options on your account

Open your profile’s verification options, or select Verify now on LinkedIn’s verification help page.

Select an identity or workplace method offered to your account. Availability depends on your country, credentials, and employer participation; a missing option alone does not establish an app problem.

Check the requirements for that method before retrying. Profile badges, account-recovery identity checks, workplace verification, and sign-in codes are separate processes.

Start with the method LinkedIn offers you, because app repairs cannot change its eligibility requirements.

Refresh a stalled app or browser

These steps address app and browser errors that interrupt verification.

On iPhone, open the App Store.

Tap your profile photo.

Select Update beside LinkedIn in your pending updates. The LinkedIn App Store listing requires iOS 18.0 or iPadOS 18.0 or later.

On Android, open Google Play.

Tap your profile photo.

Open Manage apps and device > Updates available.

Select Update beside LinkedIn.

For an iPhone app that still freezes or crashes, press and hold the LinkedIn icon.

Choose Remove App > Delete App.

Download LinkedIn again from the App Store using Get.

Sign in before restarting verification.

For a malfunctioning Android app, open Settings > Apps > LinkedIn > Storage. If your menus differ, search Settings for LinkedIn instead.

Select Clear data.

Confirm the deletion of app data.

Reopen LinkedIn.

Sign in again.

For a website error, select Me > Sign Out, provided you have the access needed to sign back in.

Sign in again.

Retry verification.

If the website still fails, open desktop Chrome’s More > New Incognito window.

Sign in to LinkedIn in that window.

Retry verification there.

If the normal browser session keeps failing, open the instructions for your browser on LinkedIn’s cookies and cache help page.

Select cookies and cached files for deletion.

Set the time range to All Time or Everything, according to your browser.

Complete the deletion using that browser’s instructions.

Sign in to LinkedIn again.

For a blocked handoff in desktop Chrome, click Pop-up blocked in the address bar.

Select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site] for the verification site.

Click Done. Browser repairs do not remove a verification method’s mobile-device requirements.

Restore the camera and retake a rejected selfie

Use these fixes when verification cannot open the camera, shows a black preview, or rejects your selfie. A browser-based capture needs camera access in both the phone’s settings and the site’s permissions.

On iPhone, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Enable access for LinkedIn or the browser handling verification. This list contains apps that have requested access.

On Android, open Settings > Apps > LinkedIn, or select the browser handling verification.

Choose Permissions > Camera > Allow only while using the app.

On Android devices with a separate camera switch, open Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy > Privacy controls. Manufacturer paths vary.

Enable Camera access.

For a browser-based Persona flow, open the verification site’s address-bar information control.

Set the site’s camera permission to Allow.

Reload the verification page.

For a black preview, close other apps or tabs using the camera.

Remove any physical lens cover.

Reopen verification.

If capture still fails, try another compatible mobile device that meets the method’s requirements.

For a rejected selfie, position yourself in even front lighting against a plain background.

Remove sunglasses and hats.

Retake the selfie without filters, keeping your whole face centered and unobstructed and the phone steady.

Follow any requested blinking or head movements to complete the liveness check.

Resolve Persona document and passport scan errors

Check LinkedIn’s country-by-country document table before another attempt. Your profile location must be supported, and document types and issue-year restrictions depend on the issuing country.

Select your document’s actual issuing country.

Choose an accepted, valid document. Not every national ID or passport qualifies.

If LinkedIn displays a QR code on your computer, scan it with your phone to continue in the LinkedIn app. An NFC document flow requires a phone with an NFC reader.

Retake the ID photo in good lighting, with readable text, every corner visible, and no glare.

For a failed NFC passport scan, remove the phone case and passport cover.

Place the phone directly against the passport without a gap.

Move it across the inside and outside of both covers to locate the chip.

Hold still until the reading finishes.

For a loading screen that never advances, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Close the stalled tab or app.

Reopen verification from LinkedIn or the original link. Be prepared to repeat earlier steps, because restarting does not guarantee saved progress.

If a privacy or ad-blocking tool blocks Persona’s scripts, camera, or uploads, pause it for the verification site or add the site to its allowlist.

Check built-in tracking protection for blocking as well.

Refresh the verification page after changing the blocker’s settings.

Complete the final Yes, share step. Persona profile verification requires you to be at least 18, and the verification must not already belong to another LinkedIn profile.

For a name mismatch, check your primary and secondary-language profile names against your ID.

When offered, select Display your ID name as an additional name on your profile.

Select Display ID name. Removing that additional name later also removes the identity verification.

If capture still fails, use the Persona support link in LinkedIn’s Persona troubleshooting page; for a link that remains stuck, ask LinkedIn to check or replace it. If the Persona button is missing, update LinkedIn and check again later. Persona describes a gradual rollout, so an app update does not guarantee access.

Get CLEAR past phone and identity errors

Start CLEAR verification through LinkedIn’s mobile verification flow on your own mobile device. This method is available to eligible members in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Continue with your existing CLEAR account, or create the free account offered. A paid CLEAR Plus subscription is unnecessary.

For a rejected phone number, use a longstanding personal number registered in your name and matching your LinkedIn and CLEAR accounts. LinkedIn excludes MVNO, VoIP, and prepaid numbers.

Submit an accepted, valid US, Canadian, or Mexican government ID. CLEAR profile verification requires you to be at least 18.

Retake an unreadable ID image with all corners visible and no glare.

Correct a name mismatch across your primary and secondary-language LinkedIn profiles, or use LinkedIn’s offered additional-name option.

Finish with Yes, Share.

Check the verification result on LinkedIn. CLEAR’s Thank you for using CLEAR message alone does not prove verification succeeded.

After failed attempts, retry the following day.

If the verification belonged to a duplicate account that was closed or merged, wait at least 365 days. One CLEAR verification cannot serve multiple LinkedIn profiles.

Keep the next-day retry rule separate from the duplicate-account waiting period.

Meet DigiLocker’s account requirements in India

DigiLocker verification is for eligible members aged 18 or older in India. Your actual LinkedIn profile location and current IP address must be in India, and your DigiLocker name must match your LinkedIn language profiles.

In the LinkedIn mobile app, open your profile and select More > About this profile > Verify now > Verify your identity with DigiLocker > Verify with DigiLocker. Sign in to DigiLocker. Link Aadhaar through the DigiLocker dashboard if it is not already linked.

Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Select Allow to provide consent. Complete the live selfie and select Yes, share if prompted.

Android users can also continue through Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge; a computer browser provides a QR handoff. After a verified duplicate account is closed or merged, wait at least 365 days before reusing the same verification method. For DigiLocker account or Aadhaar-linking errors, use the Help Center link under DigiLocker issues in LinkedIn’s DigiLocker troubleshooting page.

Repair workplace verification and missing codes

Workplace verification depends on your employer’s participation and the credential it supports. Email verification requires an employer-issued address and the employer listed as your current company in Experience.

Open Me > View profile > Resources > Verify now > Verify your workplace.

Enter your work email address.

Select Send code.

Check your spam folder if the message does not arrive.

Select Resend code for a missing or expired code.

Enter the new code.

Select Confirm within 15 minutes.

If your address is rejected, ask your company’s LinkedIn Page admin to check the email domain, including a subsidiary or contractor domain. A removed domain or disabled verification also explains a missing workplace badge.

For employer-enabled Microsoft Entra verification, open your profile in the mobile app, then select Resources > About this member > Verify now.

Complete your company’s authentication process.

Select Submit.

Ask company IT about unavailable verification or expired or revoked credentials.

For verification through LinkedIn Learning, connect your employer’s Learning license to your LinkedIn profile. This method requires an employer-provided license from a participating company.

Ensure that company is listed as your current workplace.

Open your profile, then select Resources > About this profile > Verify now.

Select Add to profile.

On a managed device, ask your administrator about restrictions blocking verification handoffs.

For work-email verification previously attached to a closed or merged duplicate account, wait 365 days.

Use account recovery or escalate the remaining error

This is the route for sign-in identity checks and verification errors that need support.

If you cannot access your account, follow the identity-recovery prompts during sign-in. Profile-badge verification uses different document eligibility rules.

Scan the displayed QR code with your phone when starting recovery on a computer.

Select your ID’s issuing country.

Select the document type.

Allow camera access when prompted.

Submit a complete, readable, valid document accepted by the recovery flow, without glare, edits, blurred information, or crossed-out details. School and library cards are not accepted, and retaking a photo cannot fix an unsupported issuing country.

Complete any requested selfie.

Select Yes, share.

For a remaining profile-verification error, sign in to the LinkedIn Help Center.

Choose Contact us > Chat with support.

Describe the error to the help assistant, including the verification provider, reproduction steps, device and app or browser versions, and a screenshot.

Use the escalation options offered, or select Start Chat if you are a Premium member.

For CLEAR’s portion of the process, select Chat with us on CLEAR’s support page to open Halo.

Request an agent through Halo.

Contact LinkedIn support for the LinkedIn badge or account result.

Keep an existing verification while troubleshooting. Deleting it is not a guaranteed reset, and deletion cannot simply be undone.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should I wait before requesting another verification code?

If LinkedIn says you exceeded its sign-in verification request limit, wait 24 hours after your last request before requesting another code. You can still sign in from a recognized device. This limit does not establish a universal Persona retry period. For a rejected Persona code, use the newest code in the same flow that requested it. Type it manually to avoid stale autofill, remove pasted spaces, and check the destination number or email.

What if I cannot receive sign-in approval or access my two-factor device?

For a sign-in approval, open your already-signed-in LinkedIn app. Approve your own request with Yes, it’s me. If the request is absent, check your connection and retry, or choose Verify using SMS. If your two-factor device is unavailable but you have an active session, open Settings & Privacy > Sign in & security > Two-factor authentication. Turn it off, then configure the replacement method. With no active session, select verify your identity beneath the two-factor prompt during sign-in.

Is account email verification the same as getting a profile badge?

No. Account email confirmation is a separate process. Open Me or your profile photo, then Settings & Privacy > Sign in & security > Email addresses. Select Send verification. Follow the emailed link, checking spam if the message does not arrive. Replace a repeatedly bouncing address; if your only address bounced, use identity-based account recovery.

Can I add or restore an education verification?

New educational institution verifications through LinkedIn Learning are paused. Existing education verifications remain visible, so keep yours while troubleshooting. There is no current official method for adding a new education verification during the pause.
