Creating a Discord account should take only a few fields, but registration stops fast when an email, phone number, CAPTCHA, or age check fails. Start with Discord’s official signup flow, then use the exact fix that matches the message on your screen.

Start your Discord sign up in a browser or desktop app

This fixes the standard Discord sign up path on a computer.

Open https://discord.com/login in a desktop browser, or open the Discord desktop app on Windows, macOS, or Linux.

Choose Register.

Enter your email address, username, password, and date of birth.

Press Continue.

Complete the CAPTCHA when Discord prompts you.

On iPhone or Android, download Discord from your app store, open the app, and tap Register. Enter your phone number or email address, follow the prompts, add the required registration details, and tap Register after entering your date of birth.

An invite link starts the same account-creation flow. Open the Discord invite link, use the redirected login or registration screen, and finish the browser, desktop, or mobile signup steps for your device.

If this method fails, sign up from the standard browser page at https://discord.com/login to rule out an app or invite-link problem.

Verify your email after creating the account

After signup, open the inbox for the email address you used, open Discord’s verification email, and press Verify Email.

When the Discord app shows a green verification banner, press Resend in that banner, then use the newest message in your inbox.

On desktop or in a browser, open User Settings with the cog wheel next to your username, go to My Account, and press Resend Verification Email in the banner.

On mobile, tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner, tap Account, tap the Verify banner at the top, and follow the email instructions.

Fix missing verification emails

The most common cause is that your email provider is filtering or blocking Discord’s message.

Allowlist [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] in your email account.

Request the verification email again from Discord after those addresses are allowed.

Request the email from a different device. On mobile, switch to mobile data before sending the new request.

Older advice tells users to ask Discord Support to manually send the verification email. Discord says Support cannot do that, so use the in-app or web resend flow instead.

Clear email errors during registration

This fixes Discord signup errors tied to an email address.

When Discord says Email is already registered, log in to the existing account that uses that email.

Log out of any other Discord account before you register again.

Use a different email address for a separate Discord account, because Discord allows one email address per account.

When Discord shows Invalid Email, wait 24 hours before trying the same email again.

Contact Discord Support at https://dis.gd/contact when the invalid-email error continues and you do not have another email address to try.

Reset the password instead of making a duplicate account

Go to the Discord login page in the desktop app, browser, or mobile app.

Enter the email address tied to the Discord account.

Choose Forgot your password?.

Open the reset email Discord sends.

Follow the email instructions to create a new password and sign in.

To test a possible email address, enter it on the login page and use Forgot your password?; Discord sends a reset email when that address is tied to an account.

Handle phone verification errors

When Discord requires phone verification, press Start Verification, enter a valid mobile phone number, wait for the SMS, and enter the verification code. Discord does not accept VOIP, burner, or landline numbers for this check.

A phone number belongs on only one Discord account. If it is already on another account, remove it from that account first, then wait through any required waiting period before using it on the intended account.

On desktop or in a browser, open User Settings with the cogwheel next to your Discord username, go to My Account, press Remove under the phone number, enter your password, and press Remove.

On mobile, tap your avatar, tap the cogwheel, open Account, tap the Phone field, and press Remove Phone Number. For an Invalid Phone Number message, re-enter the number in the proper format for your country and use a valid mobile number; for a rate limit or recently used error, wait 24 to 48 hours.

Resolve age and CAPTCHA blocks

Enter your date of birth truthfully during registration. Discord’s Terms require users to be at least 13 and to meet the minimum age required by local law, with higher minimum ages in some countries.

When CAPTCHA blocks signup or verification, complete the CAPTCHA prompt. Contact Discord Support at https://dis.gd/contact when CAPTCHA problems keep registration from finishing.

When Discord locks an account for minimum-age requirements and you are old enough in your country, log in to the locked account, find Active Violations, open the Minimum Age Requirements violation card, press Let us know, select Scan your ID, allow camera access, follow the ID scan and selfie steps, press Done, and wait for Age Check Complete.

If this method fails, submit a Discord Support request with the exact error message and the platform you used.

Contact Discord Support when registration still will not finish

This applies when the signup error is not fixed by the email, phone, CAPTCHA, or age steps above. Use Discord Support for the exact registration problem instead of unsupported workarounds.

Go to https://dis.gd/contact or https://support.discord.com/requests/new and submit a request with the exact error text and your platform.

To create a Discord Support account, go to https://support.discord.com/, select Sign in, press Sign Up next to New to Discord Support, enter your full name and email address, select Sign up, open the email from [email protected] with the subject Activate account for Discord Support, press Activate account, and set the Help Center password.

If the support portal itself will not work, clear your browser cache and cookies, try a different browser, and temporarily disable browser extensions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sign up for Discord with the same email on two accounts?

No. Discord allows one email address per account. Log in to the existing account or register the new account with a different email address.

Where should I download Discord before signing up?

Use https://discord.com/download for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, and choose the platform button that matches your device. PlayStation and Xbox appear on that page too, but under Link your console: there is no Discord app to download on either console. Link your Discord account to your PlayStation Network or Xbox account, then join voice channels from the console itself, using the Discord tab in Game Base on PS5 or the Parties & Chats tab on Xbox.

What should I do if Discord says my email does not exist?

Double-check the spelling, try another email address, or log in with your phone number if one is tied to the account. Once signed in, open User Settings and My Account to view the account email.

Can Discord Support manually send my verification email?

No. Discord says its support team cannot manually send verification emails. Use the resend option in the app or browser instead.
