Capturing what's on your Sony Xperia 1 VI's stunning 4K display is a breeze once you know the options. Whether you're saving a map, sharing a funny chat, or documenting a setting, you have a few reliable ways to do it.

Press the Power and Volume Down Buttons

The classic Android method works perfectly here. Just press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the exact same time. Hold them for a brief moment and then let go. You'll see a quick flash on the screen, hear a shutter sound, and a small preview will pop up in the corner.

You can tap that preview to jump right into editing or sharing. If you ignore it, the screenshot will save automatically to your Photos library. I find this is the fastest method for most situations.

Use the Side Sense Menu

One of the Xperia's unique features is the Side Sense bar. Double-tap on the edge of the screen to bring up a small menu of shortcuts. You can add a screenshot button to this menu for quick access.

To set it up, go to Settings > Display > Side Sense. From there, you can customize the shortcuts that appear. Just add the screenshot function, and you'll be able to capture your screen with two quick taps on the side.

Ask Google Assistant

When your hands are full or the button combo feels awkward, your voice can do the work. Simply say, "Hey Google, take a screenshot." The assistant will capture whatever is currently displayed on your screen.

You can also activate Google Assistant by holding the power button or swiping from a corner, then type the command. The screenshot saves directly to your gallery, just like the other methods.

Add a Screenshot Tile to Quick Settings

For one-tap access, you can add a dedicated screenshot button to your notification shade. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles.

Look for the Screenshot tile in the list of available options and drag it up into your active tiles. Once it's placed, you can simply swipe down and tap that tile anytime to capture your screen instantly.

Take a Scrolling Screenshot

Need to capture an entire webpage or a long conversation? After you take a regular screenshot using any method, a preview will appear. Look for a button labeled Scroll capture or Capture more in that preview toolbar.

Tap it, and your Xperia 1 VI will automatically scroll down and stitch the next section into one long image. You can usually tap it multiple times to keep capturing further down the page.

Edit and Share Immediately

That little preview that pops up is your gateway to quick edits. Tap on it to open the editing tools. You can crop the image, draw on it with different colors, add text, or use a highlighter.

When you're done, tap the share icon to send it directly through messaging apps, email, or social media. It's a seamless way to communicate without ever leaving the app you were in.

Find Your Saved Screenshots

If you dismissed the preview, your screenshots are safely saved. The easiest place to find them is in the Google Photos app. Open it and go to the Library tab, then select the Screenshots album.

You can also find the image files directly through the Files app. Navigate to Internal storage > Pictures > Screenshots. All your captures will be organized there by date.
