Screen recording on your Motorola Razr Plus is a great way to capture tutorials, gameplay, or video calls. The phone has a capable built-in tool, and with its unique folding design, you can even use the cover screen to monitor your recording. Here’s how to get started.

Access the Screen Recorder

Swipe down from the top of your main screen to open the notification shade, then swipe down again to see your full Quick Settings tiles. Look for the Screen record tile. If you don't see it immediately, tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles and drag it into your active panel.

On the Razr Plus, you can also launch the recorder from the cover screen by swiping through your apps. I find this handy for quickly starting a recording without unfolding the phone first.

Start Your First Recording

Tap the Screen record tile. A menu will pop up asking what audio you want to capture. You can choose Device audio for sounds from apps and games, Device audio and microphone to add your voiceover, or Microphone only.

You’ll also see a toggle to Show touches, which places a white circle wherever you tap. This is perfect for tutorial videos. Once you’ve made your selections, tap Start. After a three-second countdown, the recording begins.

Record with Your Voice

For narrated guides or commentary, select "Device audio and microphone" before you start. This captures both the sound from whatever app you're in and your voice through the phone's mic. Just be mindful of background noise, as the microphone will pick that up too.

Stop and Save the Recording

To stop, swipe down from the top and tap the Stop button in the persistent recording notification. You can also tap the small red recording indicator that floats on the edge of your screen.

The video saves automatically to your Gallery app. On the Razr Plus, it typically goes into a folder called "Screen recordings" or "Movies."

Edit Your Video

Open the Gallery app and find your recording. Tap on it, then look for the Edit button (it often looks like a pencil or sliders). From here, you can trim the start and end points to cut out any fumbling.

The built-in editor lets you do basic cuts. For more advanced editing like adding text or music, you might want a dedicated app from the Play Store.

Use the Cover Screen While Recording

One neat trick with the Razr Plus is you can close the phone after starting a recording on the main screen. The cover screen will stay on, showing you that the recording is still active. This lets you monitor the timer without the main display being on, which can help save a bit of battery.

Adjust Quality and Settings

For more control, go to Settings > Advanced features > Screen recorder. Here, you can change the video resolution and frame rate. Higher settings like 1080p at 60fps look smoother but create much larger files.

If you're just recording for a quick message, a lower resolution is fine and saves storage space on your device.

Understand Recording Limits

Due to copyright and security, some content can't be recorded. Streaming apps like Netflix or Disney+ will often display a black screen during recording. Secure apps for banking or digital payments may also block the feature.

Most other apps, your home screen, web browsing, and games will record without any issue.

Share Your Video

Once your recording is ready, open it in the Gallery app and tap the share icon. You can send it directly through messages, email, or social apps like WhatsApp or Instagram. For very long recordings, the file size can be large, so some messaging apps might compress it automatically.

Try a Third-Party App

If you need features like live drawing, more detailed editing, or streaming, check the Play Store. Apps like AZ Screen Recorder or Mobizen offer extra functionality. Just remember to grant them the necessary permissions when you first set them up.
