We could name thousands of things we love about the smartphones. It is not about texting or making calls anymore, it is a lot more than that. We can do so many things, from playing the games, to browsing the Internet. Of course, there are some things we don’t like at all, but probably one of the things we all hate to see is the bloatware. You just purchased a new shiny Mate 8, but still, it comes with tons of apps your carrier added on the device, and truth to be told you will hardly use any of it. Carriers will make sure their names are visible on the customers’ phones, so you may notice the name in the status bar. This can be pretty annoying, right? Let’s see how to remove the carrier name from the status bar on Huawei Mate 8.

While it is not possible to delete the bloat apps (you can only disable them), removing the name of the carrier from the status bar on Mate 8 is possible, and if this annoys you, follow several simple steps and it will be gone:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Tap on Notification panel & status bar
  • Move the switch located next to “Display carrier name” to disable this option

That’s it! The carrier name will be removed from the status bar. If you ever change your mind (which will hardly happen) and wish to see the carrier name in the corner of the screen, follow the same steps and move the switch to enable the option. You need to keep in mind the carrier name won’t be removed from the lock screen.
