Got a FaceTime invitation but you're using an Android phone? You can join through Chrome or Edge without an Apple Account login. Here's how to get into the call, use its controls, and fix camera or microphone access when something gets in the way.
Get a FaceTime invitation first
Without an invitation link, you can't join FaceTime on Android.
Ask the person you're calling to send you a FaceTime link.
On a current iPhone, have them open FaceTime > New Call > Create Link.
Have them send the invitation through Messages, Mail, or another sharing app.
For a Mac host, the path is also FaceTime > New Call > Create Link.
Have the Mac host choose a sharing destination to send you the link.
Your Android phone or tablet needs Wi-Fi or cellular internet and the latest Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The link opens the browser version of FaceTime.
Join the call on your Android device
Once the invitation arrives, you're five steps from joining.
- 1.Open the FaceTime invitation link in Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
- 2.Enter your name and select Continue.
- 3.Allow the requested camera and microphone access. In Chrome, choose Allow while visiting the site or Allow this time.
- 4.Select Join.
- 5.Wait for someone on the Apple side to admit you.
Use the controls during your call
Tap the Microphone button to mute your outgoing audio.
Tap Microphone again when you're ready to speak.
Use the Camera button to turn your video off or back on.
To forward the existing invitation, open More.
Choose Copy Link or Share Link.
Send the invitation to the person you want to join.
Select Leave when you want to disconnect.
Tip: You can keep your microphone on and participate with your camera off.
Ask the host to let you in
If you're still waiting after selecting Join, someone on the Apple side needs to approve your request. The waiting screen isn't the call itself.
Contact the person who invited you and ask them to admit you. The invitation's creator can approve guests; another Apple-device participant can manage callers after participating for at least 30 seconds.
If your Mac host hasn't entered the call, have them select the invitation tile in FaceTime.
Have them select Join FaceTime.
Next, have them select Join.
Once your request arrives, have them select the waiting notification.
Have them select the Approve Join Request button to let you in.
Restore camera and microphone access
Blocked permissions prevent FaceTime from using your camera or microphone.
In Chrome, open More > Settings > Site settings > Microphone.
If the FaceTime site appears under Blocked, select it.
Choose Allow.
Return to Site settings > Camera.
If the FaceTime site appears under Blocked there, select it.
Choose Allow for the camera, too.
If both site permissions are already allowed, open Android's Settings > Apps.
Use See all apps if you need the full app list.
Select your browser, Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Open Permissions > Camera.
Grant access while the browser is in use.
Return to Permissions > Microphone.
Grant access while the browser is in use here, too. Android menu wording varies by manufacturer.
Update an older browser
Apple requires the latest Chrome or Edge for joining on Android. If you're running an older browser version, update it before trying the invitation again.
To update Chrome, open the Play Store.
Tap your profile icon.
Tap Manage apps & device. Under Updates available, find Chrome. If the list is collapsed, tap See details.
Tap Update beside Chrome.
Open the invitation again in Chrome.
To use the other supported browser, open the link in the latest Microsoft Edge and follow the joining steps above.
Know what FaceTime on Android supports
The browser version lets you participate in a FaceTime call, control your camera and microphone, and share an existing invitation. Forwarding that link doesn't create a new hosted call from Android.
SharePlay and screen sharing aren't supported in FaceTime on the web. Sending video also requires H.264 encoding support on your device.
FaceTime links are unavailable in mainland China, and creating links isn't supported on iPhones purchased there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone invite me after a FaceTime call has already started?
Yes. On a Mac, have a participant click the call's participant or contact information. Next, have them select Share Link and send you the invitation.
Why can't I change FaceTime camera permissions on my work browser?
Managed Chrome settings can enforce camera and microphone permissions. Ask your administrator to review those permissions. If the Apple host uses a supervised iPhone or iPad, its administrator also needs to allow FaceTime in the device's restrictions policy.
Can an iPad user send me a FaceTime invitation?
Yes. On iPadOS 27, have them open FaceTime > New. Next, have them enter the recipients' contact information. They then tap the Link button and choose Messages, Mail, or another sharing option.
