Before trying to fix the issue, you need to let your phone cool off. Let this be the first thing on your mind when you notice the phone is getting hot. Leave it to cool off completely.
Remove the protective case
If you are using a case or a cover for your phone, remove it. Many cases are made from poor quality materials, and cause the phones to heat up a lot faster. So, remove it and use it without it for a while.
Charging
Avoid overcharging your device. Most users noticed overheating issues only when the phone is charging. It is because they leave it to charge a lot longer than it should. Also, use the original charger that came with your device.
Restart your phone
Many apps and many processes always run in the background. These can affect the battery life of your phone and they can also cause overheating. To close them all, you should restart your phone every once in a while. Also, this will boost the memory of your phone and will improve its performance.
Update the applications
You should make sure the apps you are using are all up to date. Developers give their best to improve their performance, so when they release an update, you should get it. To update all your apps, open the Play Store. Next, tap the hamburger icon located in the top-left corner. Tap My apps & games. Finally, tap Update all.
Delete the apps you don’t use
If you tend to keep a lot of apps on your device, including the ones you don’t use, it is the time to declutter your phone a bit. Delete the apps you no longer need.
Update the software
It is also important to keep the software up to date. New versions bring new features, but not just that. They also bring bug fixes and improvements in performance. To update the software:
- Open the Settings app from the Home screen
- Find System option and type on it
- Tap Advanced
- Tap System updates.
Factory data reset
You can give your phone a fresh start and out of the box feel if you perform a factory data reset. This will delete everything you have on your device, so make sure to create a backup first. To factory reset your Moto G7:
- Go to Settings
