Marriott Bonvoy guest WiFi can show as connected while the hotel login page still blocks internet access. The fix is to get onto the correct Marriott network, complete the captive portal, then clear the device setting that is holding the connection in a bad state. Start with the hotel portal fixes, then use the device-specific steps below.

Join the right Marriott network first

A common cause is joining a nearby Marriott network that is not the guest SSID for your room or public area.

Open your device's Wi-Fi settings and choose MarriottBonvoy, MarriottBonvoy_Guest, or the posted [Brand]_Guest network.

In lobbies, meeting rooms, and restaurants, use the network posted in that space. Marriott's current help page names only MarriottBonvoy, MarriottBonvoy_Guest, and [Brand]_Guest, so public and conference names such as MarriottBonvoy_Public, [Brand]_Public, or [Brand]_Conference are property-specific rather than guaranteed.

After you connect, wait for the hotel login screen. Enter your Room Number and Last Name, or choose the available internet option and select CONNECT NOW or Connect. Internet providers vary by hotel and region, so follow whatever the on-screen prompts call that button.

Meeting spaces and some brands need a specific password. Marriott says to contact the front desk for the current code, and your meeting coordinator may have it too.

Open the Marriott Wi-Fi portal yourself

When the sign-in page does not appear automatically, force it from a browser.

  1. 1.Connect to the Marriott guest Wi-Fi network posted at the property.
  2. 2.Open your browser and go to www.marriottwifi.com.
  3. 3.If that page does not load, go to stay.marriottbonvoy.com.
  4. 4.Complete the portal with your Room Number and Last Name, Marriott Bonvoy sign-in, access code, or the option shown on screen.
  5. 5.Select CONNECT NOW or Connect, then reload the page you were trying to visit.

Forget the hotel Wi-Fi and rejoin

Open Settings on your device and remove the saved Marriott network.

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, choose Wi-Fi, tap Edit, tap More Info next to the Marriott network, choose Forget This Network, then tap Forget.

On Windows, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose Wi-Fi, then open Manage known networks. Select the Marriott network and choose Forget.

On Android, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose Internet, touch and hold the saved Marriott network, then tap Forget.

On Chromebook, select the bottom-right time, open Settings, choose Network, choose Wi-Fi, open Known networks, find the Marriott network, choose More, then select Forget.

Reconnect to the Marriott SSID and complete the sign-in page again.

Tip: use the exact network name posted by the hotel before entering your room details again.

Use your Bonvoy Wi-Fi benefit correctly

Marriott Bonvoy members receive complimentary in-room internet when they book through a Marriott Channel, which Marriott defines as Marriott.com, the Marriott Bonvoy Mobile App, or Marriott Customer Engagement Centers. Member and Silver Elite get standard in-room internet. Gold, Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite get enhanced in-room internet, and so do co-brand credit card holders whose card includes premium internet, regardless of how they booked. On the portal, choose the free or member internet option, or sign in with your Marriott Bonvoy account when the page asks for it.

If you are not a member, use Join Now or Join for Free, then reconnect or sign in again on the portal.

When your elite tier or your co-brand credit card includes faster access, choose Free Enhanced Internet or the enhanced/high-speed option your property's provider shows. Select Duration when required, then choose CONNECT NOW.

To upgrade to enhanced internet mid-stay, connect to the hotel's guest network and go to internetupgrade.marriott.com. If the enhanced option still will not apply, ask the front desk for the property's dedicated internet-service-provider phone number.

Check iPhone and iPad captive Wi-Fi settings

Use this when your iPhone or iPad connects to Marriott Wi-Fi but never shows the welcome screen, drops the connection, or keeps returning to the same portal. These checks keep iOS focused on the hotel network long enough to finish sign-in.

Open Settings, choose Wi-Fi, and tap the Marriott network name. Wait for the login screen, then enter the requested details or accept the terms.

If the login screen stays hidden, tap More Info next to the Marriott network and choose Join Network. For a network your device remembers, keep Auto-Join turned on.

If you want the welcome screen the next time you connect, turn Auto-Login off for that network.

When Wi-Fi is dimmed or unavailable, open Settings and make sure Airplane Mode is off. Then turn off the setting that lets cellular data prop up a weak Wi-Fi connection. On current iOS and iPadOS, open Settings, choose Wi-Fi, scroll down, and turn Connectivity Assist off. On earlier versions the same setting is Settings, Cellular, Wi-Fi Assist. Restart the device if Wi-Fi stays dimmed.

As a last step, open Settings, choose General, choose Transfer or Reset [device], choose Reset, then select Reset Network Settings. This removes saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, VPN settings, and APN settings, so rejoin Marriott Wi-Fi afterward.

Connect on Windows Android and Chromebook

On Windows, select the Network, Sound, or Battery icons on the right side of the taskbar and make sure Wi-Fi is on and the Marriott SSID shows Connected. Then open Settings, choose Network & Internet, choose Airplane mode, and make sure Airplane mode is off.

On Android, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose Internet, and tap the Marriott network. You can also swipe down from the top, tap Internet, choose the Marriott network, and reconnect.

If Android still does not pass traffic, swipe down from the top, touch and hold Internet, and tap Reset. This interrupts active phone or video calls, then lets you reconnect to Marriott Wi-Fi.

On Chromebook, select the bottom-right time, open Settings, choose Network, choose Wi-Fi, select the Marriott open or public network, and choose Connect. Follow the browser sign-in prompt when it appears.

Clear blockers that stop the login page

Security, privacy, and stored browser data can block the hotel captive portal after Wi-Fi connects. Marriott's own fix list says to make sure your browser allows pop-up windows and that your VPN is temporarily disconnected.

  1. 1.On iPhone or iPad, uninstall the VPN or security app, restart the device, and test Marriott Wi-Fi again.
  2. 2.On Windows, use the taskbar Network, Volume, Battery icon, choose VPN, and turn the connected VPN off.
  3. 3.On Android, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose Private DNS, select Off or Automatic, and tap Save.
  4. 4.On Android, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose VPN, tap Settings next to the VPN, and turn the VPN off.
  5. 5.In Chrome, open More, choose Delete browsing data, select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then choose Delete data.
  6. 6.In Safari, open Settings, choose Apps, choose Safari, choose Advanced, open Website Data, then select Remove All Website Data.

Fix private or random address problems

A frequent address-related problem is that the hotel portal registered one device address while your device is presenting another.

On iPhone, iPad, or Mac, change the Marriott network's Private Wi-Fi Address setting. Current Apple software lets you choose Off, Fixed, or Rotating; older supported versions use a private address on/off control.

On Windows, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose Wi-Fi, and check Random hardware addresses. For only the Marriott network, open Manage known networks, choose the Marriott network, change Random hardware addresses or Use random hardware addresses for this network, then reconnect.

On Android 10 and newer, turn on Wi-Fi, open Settings, choose Network & internet, choose Internet, tap Settings next to the Marriott network, and scroll to Randomized MAC address. If the hotel asks for a MAC address, give it the Randomized MAC address shown on that screen. Android 10 and later transmit a randomized address by default, so the hardware address under Settings, About phone, Wi-Fi MAC address is not the one the hotel network sees, and handing that over registers the wrong device. If the property insists on the hardware address, turn randomization off for the Marriott network first, reconnect, then give them that address.

Ask the hotel to reset your access

Use this when the portal rejects your room and last name, you think you have hit a device limit, the enhanced internet option will not activate, or the property's network is down. Marriott's own guidance at this point is to contact the front desk and ask for the dedicated phone number for the hotel's internet service provider, because only the property or that provider can give you the correct access details or change your registration on their system.

Contact the front desk and ask for the correct SSID, the Wi-Fi password or access code when one is required, the property's internet-provider phone number, or a reset of your room/device portal registration.

In the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app, open your reservation and choose Chat to message the hotel directly. Marriott says the Chat feature becomes available two days before your scheduled check-in and stays available while the reservation is active. Mobile Requests sits on the same reservation, but Marriott documents it for amenities such as towels, pillows, and wake-up calls rather than Wi-Fi, and not every hotel participates.

If the problem is tied to your account, app, or Bonvoy benefit, open Marriott Help and use the Virtual Assistant. Marriott lists it as available 24/7 globally where English is the preferred browser setting. Otherwise use Contact Support or another listed support channel.

For a work, school, or managed device, contact the device admin and ask them to allow captive-network login, pause a forced VPN or filter, or approve the Marriott SSID. On an unmanaged Apple device, check Settings, choose General, choose VPN & Device Management, select the profile, then use Remove Profile or Remove Management when available.

Skip WPS Push Button and WPS Pin Entry. Those are older Android paths and are not current fixes for Marriott guest Wi-Fi captive portals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Marriott Wi-Fi say connected but no internet?

The device has joined the hotel router but has not completed the captive portal. Open the Marriott Wi-Fi portal, sign in with your room details or Bonvoy account, and select Connect.

What Marriott Wi-Fi network should I choose?

Use the posted guest network, commonly MarriottBonvoy, MarriottBonvoy_Guest, or a brand-specific Guest network. Public and conference spaces use Public or Conference SSIDs.

Do Marriott Bonvoy members get free Wi-Fi?

Members receive complimentary standard in-room internet when they book through a Marriott Channel, meaning Marriott.com, the Marriott Bonvoy Mobile App, or Marriott Customer Engagement Centers. Gold Elite and above, plus co-brand credit card holders whose card includes premium internet, receive complimentary enhanced in-room internet, and that card benefit applies regardless of booking method. The benefit covers one guest room per eligible member per stay and does not cover meeting or event spaces.

Can a work phone or school laptop block Marriott Wi-Fi?

Yes. Managed devices can force VPNs, filters, profiles, or captive-network restrictions. Contact your employer, school, or device admin and ask them to allow the Marriott captive login.
