Turn Wi-Fi off and back on

Usually, the simplest things are the ones that fix the issue. That is why we always list them first. What you need to do is pull down the notification bar, turn off the Wi-Fi and turn it back on after a minute or so. Or, you can go to Settings > Wi-Fi and do it from there.

Turn Airplane mode on and back off

The next thing is toggling the Airplane mode. Pull down the notification bar and turn this feature on. Leave it on for a minute and turn it back off.

Restart your phone

The whole Wi-Fi issue can be some minor bug that you can fix with a restart. So, press and hold the Power button. Tap Restart.

Restart your modem and your router

It is also advisable to restart your modem and router and often that fixes the problem. So, turn them off and back on.

Forget the Wi-Fi network

Here is another thing to try when experiencing Wi-Fi issues. What you need to do here is forget the Wi-Fi network, restart your phone and then connect to the network all over again. Here is how to forget it:

Reset network settings

Another thing that can help you fix the issue is to reset network settings. By doing this, you will forget all paired Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi networks, stored passwords, and mobile data settings. So, you will have to set it all up from scratch. Here is how to reset network settings:

  • From the Home screen go to Settings
  • Tap System & updates
  • Tap Reset
  • Next, tap Reset network settings
  • Finally, tap Reset network settings once again to confirm.

Factory data reset

When speaking about solutions for various smartphone issues, we always leave this one as the ultimate option. It’s because this option deletes everything you have stored on your device, your apps, personal files, and it also restores all of the settings to factory defaults. It requires a bit more work, especially because you have to create a backup first. Don’t forget to do that.
