Facebook Pay is now Meta Pay, and that rename is still rolling out globally, so your account may show either label. Check under the Meta Pay name first when checkout or Messenger payments fail. If your card will not add, a transfer will not send, or the payment screen keeps looping, begin with the path that matches the exact place you are paying. Start with the Meta Pay name, then move through card, Messenger, account, and app fixes.

Find Meta Pay First

This fixes cases where Facebook Pay looks gone because the same payment feature now appears as Meta Pay. Look for Meta Pay in Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Meta Horizon, Meta.com, or a participating online store. Keep your existing setup; saved account details, payment methods, and settings remain in Meta Pay.

On a computer, click your Facebook profile picture in the top right. Open Settings & privacy, then Settings and See more in Accounts Center. Below Account Settings, open Meta Pay.

In the Facebook app, open Menu, then Settings & Privacy and Settings. Open Accounts Center, then open Meta Pay below account settings.

Use Payment Methods to manage cards and accounts, then Contact Information to update contact details. Use Orders and Payments to find payment activity.

Confirm Your Payment Is Supported

Open Meta Pay's Country availability page. Confirm that the feature you need is supported for your country, account, and payment type. Match the problem to the exact use case, such as Facebook shopping, Donations, Events, Games, Instagram shopping, Instagram donations, Messenger money transfers in the United States, or a participating online store.

For Messenger money transfers, switch to the Messenger mobile app. Availability differs between Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Meta Horizon, Meta.com, and online stores, so a payment option working in one place does not mean it appears everywhere. Check the same account in Accounts Center before changing cards.

Repair The Card Or Payment Method

Use this method when Meta Pay opens but your card will not add, your payment is declined, or an old saved method blocks checkout.

On Facebook from a computer, click Menu, then open Orders and payments. In Payment Methods, click Add Payment Method and add the valid card or account. Set the new method as the default payment method when Facebook prompts you.

For a saved card that is expired or failing, return to Orders and payments. Choose More options next to the card or account, then open Edit Payment Method and select Remove Card or Remove Account. Return to Payment Methods, choose Add Payment Method, and enter the replacement card or account.

If a new card will not add, compare Card number, Expiration date, CVV, Name, and Billing address with the issuer's records. Use an accepted payment method, then try a different accepted card or account. Use Meta's contact form when Meta says there are too many cards on file or the issue continues.

Clear Messenger Transfer Blocks

This fixes Messenger payments blocked by account, location, currency, device, or funding source rules.

Confirm both the sender and receiver live in the United States, outside Wisconsin. Confirm both people are at least 18 and both people have active Facebook accounts. Set the preferred currency to USD.

Open Messenger on iPhone or Android, then open the conversation. Enter the amount, tap Pay, and tap Confirm [dollar amount] Payment. Enter your Meta Pay PIN if prompted.

Use an accepted debit card or a PayPal account, because only debit cards and PayPal accounts are accepted for sending and receiving money in Messenger. Do not use unsupported credit cards for Messenger transfers. If the payment still fails with a valid card, call the number on the back of the card.

For PayPal-funded payments, contact PayPal support. For a debit card problem your bank cannot resolve, use Meta's contact form.

Review Transaction Status

In the Facebook app, open Menu, then Settings & privacy and Orders and payments. Below Activity, select the transaction that is pending, failed, or needs action.

On Facebook web, open Menu, then choose Orders and payments and select Go to Meta Pay. Find the payment in transaction history.

For an unauthorized charge visible in Meta Pay Activity, open the transaction. Choose Get help with this payment, select Contact us, then choose Live chat with us or Email us. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Send ads charge disputes through Meta Business Help Center. Keep the transaction screen open until you know whether the payment is pending, failed, or needs action.

Refresh The App Or Browser

When Meta Pay loads badly, freezes, or loops during checkout, clean up the app or browser you are using.

  1. 1.Update Facebook or Messenger from the official store: on iPhone or iPad, use App Store, My Account, App Updates, and Update; on Android, use Google Play and tap Install or Update.
  2. 2.For Facebook cache on Android, open Settings, Apps, Facebook, Storage, and Clear cache.
  3. 3.If cache clearing fails on Android, open Settings, Apps, Facebook or Messenger, Storage, and Clear data, then sign in again.
  4. 4.For Chrome checkout, open More, Delete browsing data, All time, Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files, and Delete data.
  5. 5.For Edge checkout, open Settings and more, Settings, Privacy, search, and services, Choose what to clear, Cookies and other site data, Cached images and files, and Clear now.
  6. 6.For Safari on Mac, open Safari, Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data, select Facebook or Meta websites, and click Remove.

Sync Facebook And Instagram Payments

The most common cause is separate or unsynced payment information between accounts in Accounts Center.

In the Facebook app, open Menu, then Payments and Manage payment info. Turn on Connect payment info, then select Connect. Enter your Meta Pay PIN if Facebook asks.

To manage syncing from Facebook web, click your profile picture, then open Settings and privacy and Settings. Open See more in Accounts Center, then Meta Pay and Manage. Choose the synced or separate account.

Update the saved payment methods, email address, shipping address, or phone number. If the wrong account's payment details are being used, open Manage synced payment info and deselect the accounts you want to separate.

Pass PIN And Identity Checks

Use this method when Meta Pay asks for a PIN, biometric approval, account recovery, or identity verification before a payment continues.

Open Orders and Payments settings, then set up a Meta Pay PIN. When Meta Pay prompts you during payment, enter the 4-digit PIN. Use the device's face ID or fingerprint when that device has biometric approval enabled.

If Meta Pay asks for identity verification, upload an accepted ID such as a driver's license, state or national ID, passport, green card, residence permit, immigration registration card, tribal ID, status card, or voter ID. Use color JPEG or PNG images under 5 MB and under 8000 px. Show all corners of the ID. Include front and back images when Meta requires both sides.

If your Meta Pay account is disabled, use Meta's account restoration form. Watch your email and Facebook Support Inbox for updates. Provide the profile updates or documentation Meta requests.

Avoid Old Fixes And Contact Meta

Old Messenger desktop apps and old Facebook or Messenger APK rollback fixes are not current supported paths. For money transfers, use the current iOS or Android Messenger app, because sending and receiving money is not available on computers; use Messenger in a web browser only for non-payment messaging, and install Facebook or Messenger only from the App Store, Google Play, or Meta's official Facebook install page.

When payment methods, eligibility, account checks, and app or browser cleanup do not fix the issue, use Meta Payments Support, select the Facebook payments product that needs help, and complete the form.

For Messenger transaction issues covered by Meta's phone support, call 1-888-851-6382 so an agent opens a case. If this method fails, check Facebook Support Inbox and email for the next Meta request, then provide the requested documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to set up Meta Pay again after Facebook Pay changed names?

No. Existing Facebook Pay account details, payment methods, and settings remain in Meta Pay.

Why does Meta Pay fill the wrong checkout details?

Facebook or Instagram browser autofill is using saved information. Turn off autofill or manage saved information in the browser settings, then manually enter the current payment, contact, and shipping details.

Why will Facebook and Instagram payment info not sync?

The accounts need to be linked in Accounts Center, and syncing availability varies by country. Syncing is not available when Shop Pay or PayPal is the only saved Meta Pay payment method.

Does clearing data on Android delete anything?

Yes. Clear data removes local app settings, accounts, and databases for Facebook or Messenger on that device, so you need to sign in again.
