Solution No.1: Toggle Cellular data

We always list the simplest solutions first because most of the time such solutions fix the problem. What you need to do here is go to Settings, turn off Cellular data and to activate it again. If this is not working, move to the other potential solutions.

Solution No.2: Turn on Airplane mode and turn it back off

When having data issues or when you can’t connect to a Wi-Fi network, toggling Airplane mode is a little trick that may fix it. Go to Settings, turn on the Airplane mode and after a couple of seconds disable it again.

Solution No.3: Restart your device

Restarting your smartphone can fix a wide range of problems, so make sure to try it out. Press and hold the Power button, move the slider when it appears and turn your phone off. Press and hold the same button one more time and turn your iPhone 4s back on.

Solution No.4: Carrier settings update

Perhaps you need to update carrier settings, and to see if the updates are available, go to Settings > General and tap About. A prompt will show up if there is an update.

Solution No.5: Take the SIM card out

This helped some people. What you need to do is to take the SIM card out of your iPhone 4s, and then place it back in. When you take it out, check if for any damages on it, and if you notice that it is faulty, you should contact your carrier and ask for a replacement.

Solution No.6: Reset network settings

This is a simple thing to do, and it is one of the most effective ones. Do the following:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on General
  • Tap on Reset and then click on “Reset network settings”

Solution No.7: Reset all settings

You can try this too, and don’t worry, your data won’t be deleted. Here is how you can do this:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Tap General
  • Tap Reset
  • Click on the “Reset all settings” option

Solution No.8: Erase all content and settings

If the above-mentioned solutions didn’t solve the problem, perhaps it’s the time to give your iPhone 4s a fresh start and you can do that by erasing all content and settings. Before you proceed backup your files because performing things means (as its name says) all the content and settings on your device will be erased. Next:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap General
  • Tap Reset
  • Tap Erase all content and settings

When the process is completed, follow the on-screen steps and set up your iPhone 4s as a new device.

If the issue is still there, make sure to contact your carrier or visit one of the Apple Stores nearby.
