ARC Raiders voice chat not working on Xbox usually comes down to privacy settings, Party Chat, headset hardware, or a network block. Start with the account and chat-channel fixes first, then move into headset, NAT, DNS, and reinstall steps if voice chat still stays silent.
1. Check Xbox service status first
Check Xbox service status before changing anything on the console, especially for alerts affecting games, multiplayer, messages, or Party Chat.
If there is an active alert, wait for it to clear or sign in for notifications. This is the fastest way to avoid chasing a local fix when Xbox network services are the actual problem.
2. Allow cross-network voice and text
Press the Xbox button, then go to Profile & system > Settings > Account. Open Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy, then select View details and customize > Communication & multiplayer.
Set You can communicate outside of the Xbox network with voice & text to Everybody. ARC Raiders needs Xbox privacy settings to allow voice and text communication outside the Xbox network, so that permission has to be set to Everybody.
You can also use the Xbox web privacy portal. Go to account.xbox.com/Settings, sign in, open Privacy & online safety or Xbox privacy settings, then allow the relevant communication and cross-network chat options.
3. Fix child account permissions
Child and family member profiles need the family organizer to allow the same communication setting. Press the Xbox button, then go to Profile & system > Settings > Account. Open Family settings > Manage family members.
Choose the family member, then open Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy. Select View details and customize > Communication & multiplayer, and set You can communicate outside of the Xbox network with voice & text to Everybody.
The Xbox Family Settings app can also manage communication and multiplayer settings for child and member accounts.
4. Switch your party into game chat
Press the Xbox button, open Parties & chats, then select your party. Press the View button and choose Switch to game chat.
If you can hear Xbox Party Chat but ARC Raiders proximity chat is silent, you are in the wrong chat channel. Party Chat volume and Chat mixer settings only affect Xbox Party Chat. They will not restore ARC Raiders game chat while you remain in the party channel.
5. Reseat and update your headset
For a wired headset, unplug it from the controller, reconnect it firmly, then check the mute button on the headset or inline cable. A loose 3.5 mm connection or muted cable can make ARC Raiders voice chat look broken.
If you use an Xbox Wireless Headset, press the Xbox button and go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories. Select the headset, choose Configure, open the ... button on the headset settings screen, and choose Update now if a firmware update appears.
If your headset plugs into the controller, update the controller too. Go to Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories, select the controller, then follow the update prompts.
6. Quit ARC Raiders and restart Xbox
Fully close the game first, especially after Quick Resume, because a stuck audio or network session can survive until ARC Raiders quits. Press the Xbox button, highlight ARC Raiders, press the Menu button, then select Quit. Relaunch ARC Raiders.
If voice chat is still down, restart the console. Press and hold the Xbox button to open the Power Center, then select Restart console > Restart.
You can also go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Power options > Restart now. When a normal restart does not clear it, hold the console Power button for 10 seconds until it shuts down, then turn it back on.
7. Review NAT and enable UPnP
Press the Xbox button, then go to Profile & system > Settings > General. Open Network settings and review the NAT and multiplayer connection status.
Follow Xbox Support NAT troubleshooting if the console reports NAT errors. Voice chat can fail when NAT or multiplayer connectivity is blocked, so check the console first.
Embark also recommends UPnP to help establish Open NAT. Open your router app or router web portal, find UPnP or Universal Plug and Play, enable it, save the change, then restart the router and console when required.
Try UPnP first, and only use the manual port forwarding in the next step if UPnP is unavailable or ruled out. Do not run UPnP, port forwarding, and DMZ (perimeter network) at the same time.
8. Remove DNS and port blocks
Use these after the privacy, party chat, headset, restart, and NAT checks. Change to a public DNS server through Xbox network settings or your router settings. Open ARC Raiders voice-chat ports for the Xbox console: TCP 5222, TCP 443, UDP 5222, and UDP 443.
Open Xbox network ports: UDP 88, UDP/TCP 3074, UDP/TCP 53, TCP 80, UDP 500, UDP 3544, and UDP 4500. Add UDP 9002 only if remote play will not connect and the console reports Strict NAT; it is not needed when remote play works or NAT is already Open.
These checks are for routers, firewalls, or DNS settings that block voice services. Skip the common Alternate MAC address reset unless you actually entered a custom alternate MAC address. Xbox says that action mostly forces a restart, and you already handled the restart path above.
9. Update or reinstall ARC Raiders
Press the Xbox button, then go to Profile & system > Settings > System. Open Updates, enable Keep my console up to date, and enable Keep my games & apps up to date. Keep console and game updates enabled so ARC Raiders gets current voice-chat fixes.
When every setting above checks out, reinstall the game. Press the Xbox button, then open My games & apps > See all > Games. Highlight ARC Raiders, press the Menu button, and choose Uninstall. Reinstall it from My games & apps > Full library or the official Xbox Store page.
