Your Pura diffuser appears in the app, but Wi-Fi setup goes nowhere. Or your phone cannot find the diffuser at all. Start with your model’s network requirements, then work through Bluetooth, setup, and the reset instructions that match your hardware.
Start with the Wi-Fi band your Pura supports
Check your model before changing router settings. Home v5 accepts 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and dual-band networks; Home v4, Mini v1, and Plus v1 require 2.4 GHz.
Select a network your diffuser supports during setup. There is no need to force Home v5 onto 2.4 GHz.
For Pura 4, Mini, or Plus, enable the router’s 2.4 GHz radio through its configuration interface if it is disabled.
Ask your router manufacturer or internet provider for the correct settings if you cannot find that control. Router menus differ, so there is no universal menu path.
For a plug-in wall diffuser, use a powered wall outlet directly instead of a power strip shared with other diffusers. The USB-C-powered Plus uses a different power connection.
Restore Bluetooth so your phone can find Pura
Keep your phone within 5 feet of the diffuser during setup. On iPhone, enable Settings → Bluetooth → Bluetooth; on Android, swipe down and enable Bluetooth.
In Pura, open Settings → Permissions and tap Enable beside Bluetooth. Tap Open Settings. Turn on Pura’s Bluetooth permission in the phone settings that open.
On iPhone, the direct permission route is Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth → Pura. If Pura is absent, return to the app to request permission, since apps appear here after requesting access. On Android, open Settings → Apps → See all apps if needed → Pura → Permissions, then select Nearby devices → Allow when that permission is offered.
If discovery still fails, turn Bluetooth off. Leave it off for approximately 10 seconds before turning it back on. On iPhone, use Settings → Bluetooth for this restart, because the Control Center button disconnects accessories while leaving Bluetooth available for other functions.
Repeat setup for your specific model
With Bluetooth permission enabled and your phone within 5 feet, follow your model’s setup path.
- 1.Sign in to Pura. For Home v5, plug in the diffuser, then open Diffuse → Set Up Diffuser, or the top-right drop-down line menu → Add New if you already have diffusers. For Pura 4 or Mini, plug in the diffuser and tap Set Up Diffuser, or + if you already have diffusers. For Plus, select Pura Plus at the beginning of setup.
- 2.For Home v5, Pura 4, or Mini, tap Add Diffuser. Select the intended wall diffuser when several appear; Pura lists the closest first. On Plus, solid blue control buttons indicate that it is ready to connect.
- 3.For Pura 4 or Mini, orient the diffuser upright and tap Confirm. For Home v5, rotate the prongs as needed so the diffuser sits upright. After Home v5, Pura 4, or Mini finishes pairing, tap Continue.
- 4.Select your Wi-Fi network and enter its password. Home v5 accepts 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and dual-band networks; Pura 4, Mini, and Plus require 2.4 GHz. On Pura 4, Mini, or Plus, tap Continue after entering the password.
- 5.Check the connection confirmation. A green light confirms that Pura 4 is connected. On Mini, confirm the connection and tap Continue.
Improve reception and restart the router
This addresses weak Wi-Fi reception and restarts the router’s connection.
Move the diffuser closer to the router, with a clear line of sight and fewer walls or pieces of furniture between them. For Pura 4 or Mini showing No WiFi Networks Found, choose an open location near the access point.
Retry network discovery in Pura.
If the connection still fails, unplug the router for 30 seconds.
Plug the router back in.
Wait another 30 seconds, allowing longer if internet access has not yet returned.
Retry Pura setup once internet access is working. This procedure restarts the router without performing a factory reset.
Replace the password or saved network
Select the home network you intend to use during setup. Re-enter its password exactly, including capitalization and special characters.
For a diffuser with the removable cover, reset button, and nightlight described in Pura’s network-change instructions, open the three-line menu at the top right of the affected diffuser → More → Wi-Fi Network. Allow approximately five minutes for the process. Use model-specific support for Home v5 or Plus instead of applying this button sequence.
Remove the cover. Hold the reset button until the nightlight breathes blue, then release it. Tap Continue to repeat setup and select the replacement network.
For a missing network, tap I Don't See My WiFi Network. Enter its name and password, preserving capitalization, spaces, and special characters, then tap Continue. Pura gives conflicting compatibility guidance for hidden networks; if manual entry fails, select a visible network that supports your model.
Give the Pura app a fresh start
Update Pura if setup keeps getting stuck. On iPhone, open App Store → My Account or your profile photo → App Updates → Update beside Pura.
On Android, open Google Play Store → your profile icon → Manage apps & device → Updates available → See details → Update beside Pura.
Next, close Pura. On a Face ID iPhone, swipe up from the bottom edge of the Home Screen and pause to show app previews; on a Home-button iPhone, double-click the Home button.
Swipe Pura’s preview upward to close it.
On Pixel, use Settings → Apps → See all apps → Pura → Force stop → OK. Other Android manufacturers use different menus.
Reopen Pura.
Retry diffuser setup.
If setup still stalls, reinstall the app. On iPhone, touch and hold Pura, then select Remove App → Delete App → Delete.
On Android, open Google Play Store → your profile icon → Manage apps & devices → Manage → Pura → Uninstall.
Open Pura’s app download page.
Select Download now under Available for download on the App Store or Get it on Google Play to install the linked app.
Sign in to Pura.
Grant the requested permissions.
Retry setup. If the diffuser still cannot connect, use the applicable model-specific reset below.
Use the reset that matches your diffuser
Persistent discovery trouble calls for the reset procedure specific to your model; Mini’s procedure below addresses a failed setup update.
For Pura 4, open the three-line menu above the diffuser in Pura → More → Forget Diffuser.
Unplug the Pura 4 for 30 seconds.
Hold its reset button while plugging it back in, keeping the button pressed for 10 seconds or until the light breathes blue.
For a powered Plus, hold the left button on its front for seven seconds to perform a soft reset.
Retry Plus setup.
If the soft reset fails, unplug the Plus.
Hold its left button while reconnecting power, keeping the button pressed for 10 seconds or until the light breathes blue.
Retry Plus setup.
For a Mini whose firmware update fails during setup, hold the reset button until the light glows blue, approximately seven seconds, then release it.
For Home v5, contact Pura Customer Care for reset instructions specific to that model.
Finish the update after Wi-Fi connects
On Pura 4 or Plus, choose a room after connecting to Wi-Fi.
Tap Continue at the update stage to run a required update or proceed when the diffuser is already up to date.
On Mini, tap Continue during the update stage to run the required update.
Save firmware troubleshooting for this stage: Pura 4 and Plus must connect to Wi-Fi before reaching these update prompts.
Resolve network restrictions or contact Pura
Choose a network that does not require a browser login, username, security-code entry, or additional account authentication. For apartment, dorm, or workplace Wi-Fi, ask the provider or administrator for a compatible connection. Pura’s pages disagree about support for MAC-based registration, so administrator registration does not establish compatibility.
If the diffuser still will not connect after the applicable steps, open Pura’s customer care page and select Continue to Contact Us. Alternatively, finish your model’s troubleshooting flow and select Contact Pura Customer Care.
If reinstalling the app did not resolve the issue, take a photo of the diffuser’s back and attach it to your Customer Care request. The photo helps identify the hardware for model-specific support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the Pura Plus buttons without completing app setup?
No. Plus requires setup through the Pura app and a 2.4 GHz connection before use. Its buttons do not bypass initial setup.
How can I tell whether my wall diffuser has power?
On a wall diffuser with a reset button, briefly press it once. If the diffuser lights up, it has power. If the outlet is unpowered, move the diffuser to another powered outlet and press the button again.
Why can’t I delete Pura from my iPhone to reinstall it?
App-deletion restrictions block this step. On a parent-controlled device, ask the responsible parent to allow Deleting Apps. On a managed iPhone or iPad, contact the device administrator to permit deletion and reinstallation.
Should my Pura Car Pro connect to my home Wi-Fi?
Car Pro uses your phone’s Wi-Fi or data for certain setup operations, then Bluetooth for daily operation. Joining the diffuser itself to home Wi-Fi is not its normal setup.
