Your Bambu Lab P1S won't connect to Wi-Fi, and setup keeps getting stuck at pairing, the password screen, or a network error. Start with the network requirements below, then tackle the stage that's failing. If the printer already has an IP address, jump to the Handy and Studio connection checks.
Start with a compatible Wi-Fi network
This fixes setup failures caused by incompatible network settings or incorrect Wi-Fi details. Enable a 2.4 GHz network in your router's wireless settings. The P1S scans for 2.4 GHz networks; router menu names vary.
Set that network's wireless security to WPA2-Personal/PSK. Bambu documents WPA/WPA2-PSK support. Select that network during printer setup, checking that its name matches the one you intend to use. Enter the network's Wi-Fi password.
Move the printer closer to the router. Interference also causes the Invalid password error, so the message doesn't always mean you mistyped something. Retry the connection.
Run Wi-Fi setup through Bambu Handy
Handy pairs with the printer over Bluetooth and sends it your Wi-Fi details.
- 1.On the P1S, open Settings > WLAN to display the setup code. You can also access it through Settings > Account.
- 2.Sign in to Bambu Handy on your phone.
- 3.Select Devices > Bind Printer > Scan the QR Code, then scan the printer screen.
- 4.Select Confirm to Bind.
- 5.Complete Bluetooth pairing on both the phone and printer.
- 6.Select your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
If pairing stalls, repair the Bluetooth connection
Turn on your phone's Bluetooth. Handy needs it during setup, even though the printer connects to your router over Wi-Fi.
On an iPhone, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth. Enable Bambu Handy if listed. The app appears after it requests Bluetooth access.
On Android, open Settings > Apps > Bambu Handy > Permissions. Manufacturer labels differ. Allow Nearby devices when requested. Allow Location when your Android phone requires it for Bluetooth setup.
Temporarily disconnect other Bluetooth accessories while binding. Remove BBLPrinter from your phone's paired Bluetooth devices if an earlier pairing failed or Handy cannot retrieve the Wi-Fi list. Turn Bluetooth off. Turn Bluetooth back on.
In Handy, select Devices > Bind Printer > Connect via Bluetooth. Select your printer under Unbound Devices. Choose Confirm to Bind. Approve the pairing request on the printer.
If discovery still fails, switch the printer off. Wait 20 seconds before switching it back on. Retry discovery in Handy through Devices > Bind Printer > Connect via Bluetooth. Try setup from another phone if the printer remains undiscoverable.
Tip: Compare serial numbers when several printers appear so you bind the right one.
Router checks for missing networks and DHCP errors
If your network is missing, check the router's 2.4 GHz channel setting. Select a channel within 1–11, the range Bambu specifies for P1 binding.
If the printer reports DHCP Failed or shows 0.0.0.0 as its IP address, restart the router. The printer has not obtained a usable address.
For a persistent DHCP failure, check the router's DHCP settings for an exhausted address pool or conflicting addresses. Testing another router or a hotspot is the next way to narrow down the cause.
Test a 2.4 GHz phone hotspot
This test separates a home-network problem from a printer or setup problem. On another Android phone, configure its hotspot to use 2.4 GHz. Hotspot menu labels vary by manufacturer.
For an iPhone 12 or later, open Settings > Personal Hotspot on the phone providing the hotspot. Its cellular plan must support Personal Hotspot. Enable Allow Others to Join. Turn on Maximize Compatibility.
Keep the Personal Hotspot screen open while connecting. Start printer setup again in Handy through Devices > Bind Printer. Select the hotspot when Handy displays the Wi-Fi networks.
Enter the password displayed on the hotspot phone. A successful connection points to your home network as the problem; failure on both networks calls for further printer and setup checks.
When Wi-Fi works but Handy or Studio cannot connect
An assigned IP address shifts attention to discovery and account access. For local discovery, connect your phone and printer to the same router/network with compatible IP subnets. Disable router client isolation and remove rules blocking the printer's MAC or IP address.
On an iPhone or iPad, enable Bambu Handy under Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network if listed. This permission controls local access; it does not establish the printer's Wi-Fi connection.
For Handy and cloud access, switch Settings > WLAN > LAN Only Mode to OFF on the printer. If the printer does not reappear in Handy afterward, bind it again through Devices > Bind Printer. With LAN Only Mode enabled, Handy, remote cloud access, and Print History are unavailable.
If Studio cannot find the printer, sign in with the account bound to it in Handy. Check the region in Preferences, then look under My Device. For binding or cloud communication failures, inspect Bambu Accounts and Printer Services on Bambu's service-status page, including Binding, Cloud printing, and Remote controlling.
Replace saved Wi-Fi details or use a microSD card
A saved network name or password that no longer matches your router prevents the P1S from reconnecting. Using the printer's directional controls and OK button, open Settings > WLAN. Select the saved network. Choose the option to forget that network, which Bambu calls Forget Wifi.
Repeat setup through Handy's Devices > Bind Printer with the correct network details. For app-free setup, a hidden network name, or difficult password entry, create a plain-text file named user_wifi.cfg on your computer instead. Set its first line to ssid: YOUR_NETWORK_NAME, replacing YOUR_NETWORK_NAME with your network name.
Set its second line to password: YOUR_PASSWORD, replacing YOUR_PASSWORD with your Wi-Fi password. These are the file's two configuration lines. Disconnect any existing printer network using Settings > WLAN, the saved network, and its Forget Wifi option. Select Settings > SD Card > Eject > Yes before removing the printer's microSD card.
Remove the card from the printer. Insert the card into your computer's card reader. Copy user_wifi.cfg to the card's root, outside any folders. Safely eject the card from your computer.
Remove the card from the reader. Insert the card into the printer. Restart the P1S to apply the configuration. Check Settings > WLAN afterward to see whether it connected.
Update after reconnecting, then consider a reset
If the hotspot gets your printer online, use that connection for a firmware update. Accept the printer's firmware-update notification with OK. Handy also provides firmware controls under the selected printer's Settings > Firmware Version. Wait for the update to finish.
Restart the printer after the update, as Bambu recommends. Recalibrate the printer, also recommended by Bambu after updating. Retry your home Wi-Fi through Handy's Devices > Bind Printer.
If setup still fails, a factory reset is a later recovery option. Bambu warns that reset settings cannot be restored. Open Settings > Factory Reset on the printer. Confirm Yes.
Repeat initial setup and network binding through Handy's Devices > Bind Printer. If the reset fails to restore connectivity, contact Bambu support with your error message and the results of the hotspot test.
Get support with the error and printer logs
Open a Technical Ticket through Bambu's support-ticket page, or use Me > Support Center in Handy. Include the exact error, your phone model, a setup video, and the results of trying another network. If the printer is offline, copy its logs from the microSD card to your computer. Upload the printer logs with your ticket through the support website.
For IOT_ERROR_NO_VALID_DEVICE, find the printer's serial number under Settings > Device. Ask support to correct or register that serial number. After an AP-board replacement, provide both the old and new serial numbers. Tip: Have support diagnose a suspected antenna or AP-board fault before replacing hardware.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a PIN to connect the P1S to Wi-Fi?
PIN binding requires the P1S to be online already. It links the printer to your account in Handy or Studio; it does not establish the Wi-Fi connection.
How do I connect Studio when LAN mode discovery fails?
With the printer already connected to Wi-Fi in LAN mode, read its IP address and Access Code. In Studio, select Device > No Printer > Bind with Access Code. Enter both values and select Connect. Bambu says this manual IP connection must be repeated after restarting Studio.
Can I update P1S firmware without internet access?
Yes, if the printer already runs firmware 01.07.00.00 or later. Follow Bambu's official microSD update procedure using the correct P1 firmware package. Upgrading from firmware below 01.09.01.00 to a version above it requires installing bridge firmware 01.09.01.00 first. Printers below 01.07.00.00 require an online update before they support offline updates.
Does deleting the printer from Handy only clear its Wi-Fi settings?
No. Delete Device removes the printer's account association. Forgetting a saved Wi-Fi network is a separate action on the printer.
