If the dark mode is already present and enabled at the iOS 13 or Android 10 version, then WhatsApp dark theme will apply automatically.  In Android devices, dark mode looks slightly greyish and in iOS devices, dark mode is completely black. Facebook, the company that owned WhatsApp has added the dark mode to help users in lowering the brightness of a phone display. As said by a WhatsApp media spokesperson, the company didn’t opt to combine pure black-white color as this combination causes high eye fatigue. Instead of it, they used off-white color and a special dark grey background that reduces the brightness of the phone’s display, bring down the glare and enhances contrast.
