Epson printer drivers get messy when Windows or macOS adds a basic printer while Epson offers a fuller package for your exact model. Start with Epson’s official download, then use your computer’s printer tools to add, update, or repair the setup. Here’s the clean path for Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Linux, and Epson Connect remote printing.
1. Download the driver from Epson Support
Go to Epson’s printer driver support page. Select Printers or search for your Epson printer model. Open your product support page and choose Downloads.
Select your Operating System, then choose GO. Download the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package or the Printer Driver. Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
2. Search Epson Download Center by model
Open Epson Download Center. Enter the product name in Please enter the product name. Choose the correct Operating System, then select your Country/Region.
Choose Search. Pick the relevant Drivers or Utilities entry for your printer model and operating system. Use a computer browser, because Epson driver downloads are not available on Epson’s mobile support pages.
3. Let Windows install the printer driver automatically
On Windows 11, open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add a printer & scanner > Add device, choose your Epson printer, then select Add Device. Windows uses an inbox, IPP, Windows Update, or matching available driver for many USB, Wi-Fi, and network Epson printers. Start here when the printer appears in the list.
4. Update Epson software with Epson Software Updater
This fixes outdated Epson software when your printer is already connected to the computer. Download Epson Software Updater from Epson if it is not installed. Turn on the Epson product and connect it to a computer with Internet access.
Open Epson Software Updater. Select the available Epson software updates, then choose Install.
5. Add or repair an Epson printer on macOS
On a Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > Printers & Scanners. To rebuild the printer, control-click the Epson printer, choose Remove Printer, confirm Remove Printer, then choose Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax.
Select the printer, open the Use pop-up menu, choose AirPrint, Select Software, or Other, then choose Add. macOS uses AirPrint when adding printers; Select Software or Other uses installed or downloaded manufacturer software files.
6. Reinstall Epson software when the driver is broken
On Mac, visit Epson Support, select your product, open Downloads, select your operating system, then open Utilities. Download Epson’s Uninstaller utility. Run the file and double-click Uninstaller.
Select each Epson software checkbox. Choose Uninstall and follow the on-screen instructions. After that, remove the printer from Printers & Scanners if it remains there. Reinstall your product software from the current Epson support download.
7. Fix Windows driver problems when the printer still will not work
Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, select your Epson printer, choose Manage, then choose Update driver and follow the on-screen instructions. Check optional driver updates from Start > Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates, select available driver updates, then choose Download and install.
Use Start > Device Manager, expand Printers, right-click your Epson printer, then choose Update driver. If no update is available in Device Manager, choose Uninstall device, then restart the computer so Windows attempts to reinstall the printer driver automatically.
To rebuild the printer setup, open Printers & scanners, select your printer, choose Remove, restart your PC, then return to Printers & scanners and choose Add a printer or scanner. Optional drivers are not installed automatically, so check Optional updates when a printer driver update is needed.
8. Choose the right option for Chromebooks, Linux, and remote printing
On ChromeOS, select the time, open Settings, scroll down to Device > Printers and scanners, then choose Print. Under Other available printers, choose Save next to the Epson printer, or choose + Add printer manually if it is not listed.
Epson’s own Chromebook guide still labels that button Set up on some models, so treat Set up and Save as the same step. If ChromeOS shows Advanced printer configuration, set Manufacturer to Epson, set Model to Generic ESC/P-R, then choose Add.
On Linux, use Epson Linux Support, open Linux Drivers, go to Epson Download Center, enter the product name, choose the Linux operating system or package type, select Country/Region, choose Search, then download the available printer driver package.
For Epson Connect remote printing, download Epson Connect Printer Setup Utility and register the printer and your account with Epson Connect. Then sign in to the Epson Connect User Page, open Print Settings for Remote Print, and choose Enable Remote Print, adding an access key and choosing Apply if you want to restrict who can print.
Remote Print stays off until you do this. Finally, install Epson Remote Printer Driver for your operating system edition and register the printer with its Epson Connect email address, entering the access key if you set one.
9. Skip old driver advice that no longer fits current Epson setup
This prevents wasted time on outdated Epson printer driver methods. Older Epson manuals mention Windows taskbar shortcuts, the printer software Utility tab, and the EPSON program group for updates. Use the current Epson Software Updater instead.
Older Windows instructions mention uninstall paths from Windows 10 and earlier. On a current Windows 11 PC, use the current Settings app surfaces, then reinstall from Epson Support.
Do not wait on the disc that came in the box. Epson’s current path is to download drivers from the product support page, and Epson notes Mac drivers are download-only.
Replacement software CDs have not been retired, though: Epson still ships them stock permitting through its Driver Fulfillment department for a shipping and handling charge, which is the only route to any third-party software that shipped on the original Windows CD.
Google Cloud Print is discontinued and no longer supported. Use native ChromeOS printing for a Chromebook, or Epson Connect for remote printing.
For work, school, or managed PCs, printer driver installation is controlled by administrator policy. Contact the device admin instead of changing policy settings yourself.
