It is important to mention that in order to use Alexa and Spotify together, you need to have a Spotify Premium account. If you have never used Spotify before, you may get the free trial (it lasts for 3 months now) and explore all that this music streaming service has to offer, and all of that using Alexa. If you have a premium account then you are ready to set it all up.

How to connect Alexa to Spotify

Here is how to connect Alexa to Spotify:

  • Open the Alexa app on your Android or iOS device
  • Tap the menu button that is located in the top-left corner of the app
  • Now tap Settings
  • Next, tap Music
  • Find the option “Link New Service” and tap on the (+) sign located on the right side
  • Tap Spotify
  • Enter your details to log in
  • You will get to read Terms and Conditions
  • Tap Agree.

Now you can give commands such as “Alexa, play the song (name the song) on Spotify”.

You can set Spotify to be the default music service. Here is how:

  • Open the Alexa app on your Android or iOS device
  • Tap the menu button that is located in the top-left corner of the app
  • Now tap Settings
  • Next, tap Music
  • Tap Default Services
  • Tap Spotify.

Now, whenever you want to play music, Alexa will use Spotify first, because it is set as a default music service.
