Yahoo already runs automatic filters that catch most spam, malware, and phishing. The actions below mostly train that system and clean up whatever slips through, so the more consistently you use them, the quieter your inbox gets.

One thing worth knowing up front: these controls work best inside Yahoo's own apps or webmail, not inside third-party email programs. Yahoo even recommends turning off the spam filters in outside email clients, since those sit beyond Yahoo's control. Start with the quickest fixes, then move to the heavier tools.

Mark the Email as Spam (Fastest Fix)

This is the single most effective move. It removes the message and teaches Yahoo to route future mail from that sender straight to Spam.

In New Yahoo Mail on a desktop browser:

  3. 3.Future emails from that same sender are now sent to the Spam folder.
