A lot of people getting the error”There was a problem sending the command to the program” while opening excel 2003. This normally occurs because Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is enabled which is  ignoring the excel operation . If you have a newer Microsoft version(2013) and you are attempting to open a excel file that is 2003 or older you will be prompted with this error”There was a problem sending the command to the program “

How to fix There was a problem sending the command to the program

If you are on  windows 7 and any other version of windows apart from the windows 8,then follow this method.

>Download this fix ,

>After the file is finish downloaded, click on run. it will automatically run as administrator.

> Click Next and proceed.

>Open the excel file you were attempting to open,

Windows 8- There was a problem sending the command to the program

This method specifically applies to windows 8. Similar to that of windows 8.

 

>Download this file

 

>run as administrator

>Next

>finish

>Re open the excel file .
