Possible Solution to fix Google Pixel 2 XL Random Reboots
The culprit is known now. The LTE in the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is what has been causing all this mess. The reboots only happen when you enter a low signal area and in areas where the LTE signal is patchy.
One of the users of Google Pixel 2 XL mentioned the rebooting problem that he faced with this device and also happened to mention what he did to get rid of the problem.
According to Nader Babbili, if you switch the preferred network type to 3G only then the problem Google Pixel 2XL random reboots stops completely.
To make this change, navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network and change to 3G as the preferred network.
Another solution which Nader Babbili gave was even better but is more technical. According to the user, there might be a Wilson Cell Amplifier in the area you reside and that device reboots with LTE. A Wilson Cell Amplifier is nothing but WiFi Signal booster. Babbili unplugged this temporarily and found the problem to have disappeared completely. The user also said that he was able to use his smartphone in the LTE mode without his Google Pixel 2 XL rebooting every time.
Google, however, responded by saying that they had already identified the problem and were already readying their fix which would be launched soon. Pixel has sure been a troublesome flagship but Google always comes up with a fix. Google hasn’t provided the solution just yet, but if you cannot wait you can always use the above solutions as a temporary fix. The first solution to the rebooting problem is super easy. You can always switch your phone’s network back once you are out of the poor signal area.
