Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular apps created not just for chatting but for calls as well (video calls included). Signing Out of Messenger on Android

In some cases, Androids are way easier to use compared to iOS devices. One of the super useful things is the Apps menu from the settings that allow the user to control the apps without even getting to them. All that needs to be done in order to sign out of messenger is to go to the settings and choose the apps option.

Once there, look for the Messenger. Tap it to open the app, an App Info tab will show up with options like Mobile Data, Storage, Uninstall and else. Tap Storage Options which will take you to the storage details of the Messenger app. There are a couple of further options, Clear Data and Clear Cache. Tap clear data which will remove every data the app has stored on the device and will sign you out.

Singing Out from Messenger Using iOS Devices

The iOS layout for the app settings is similar to Android, but it does not have anything like Clear Data. You cannot sign out of the Messenger using the app settings. You would need to get into the Facebook app to perform this task. If it is not on the device, you will install it to sign out of messenger. Here is what you have to do, log in to the Facebook app with the account that has to be separated from the messenger.

Open up the menu having a list or hamburger icon on the bottom of the screen. Next, tap the Settings & Privacy option and choose settings. There you will see the Security and Login tab which will take you to the list titled Where You’re Logged In. It contains the list of all the devices where you logged in with your Facebook account. The list will show the device name, such as the iPhone 8 Plus or Samsung SM-J250F in bold and below that it will show the platform, either Facebook or Messenger or both.

If you are unable to find your device name in the provided list, check to See More. Once you get to the desired device, tap the three dots icon right to the title having the messenger written beneath it and tap Log Out. Finally, you will move out of the messenger and that device will be removed from the list.

This method could also be used on the Androids if the app settings are not preferred. There are only minimal differences, such as the menu option in on the top on Androids.

Singing Out from Messenger from Facebook.com

Here is the way that you can use on an iOS device without the Facebook app. Simply go to Facebook.com and open the settings from the dropdown menu under the arrow in the top right corner. Jump into security and Login, check the Where You’re Logged In list, choose the device with the messenger written under it, tap the three dots icon and log it out. The device name will disappear as it happened in the Facebook app method.
