What You're Getting

This 7.2-channel AV receiver delivers premium audio processing with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support for immersive surround sound. It features 7 HDMI inputs and 1 output with HDCP 2.3 and eARC, with three inputs supporting 8K60 and 4K120 passthrough for next-gen gaming consoles.

The receiver includes Yamaha's YPAO R.S.C. room calibration with multipoint measurement and Surround:AI technology that automatically optimizes sound effects in real-time.

Video support covers Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, and BT.2020 for modern display compatibility.

Who This Is For

Best for home theater enthusiasts building a 7.2-channel system or upgrading from older equipment. This receiver works well for gamers needing 4K/120Hz passthrough and VRR support, plus anyone wanting premium audio processing without stepping up to Yamaha's higher-end models.

Skip this if you need more than 7 channels or require extensive multi-zone capabilities beyond the basic Zone 2 support.

The Caveat

While this receiver supports 8K and 4K/120 passthrough, only three of the seven HDMI inputs offer this capability. The 7.2-channel configuration may limit expansion options compared to 9.2 or 11.2-channel receivers in the same price range from competitors.

Final Verdict

At $699.95, this Yamaha receiver delivers premium AVENTAGE features at a price that undercuts its recent averages by over $200. For anyone building a 7.2-channel home theater with modern gaming and video support, this discount makes it worth considering now rather than waiting for seasonal sales.
