Apple Watch was introduced for the first time on September 9, 2014, and started to be ordered on April 24, 2015. We are not sure how many Apple Watch has been sold because Apple seems to hide this information. In September 2015, they released the new color for Apple Watch Sport, new band colors, and Apple Watch Hermes.
Apple Watch got the first rank as the luxury watch brand, according to Netbase result. This ranking is gotten from the measuring social media mentions and consumer sentiment from more than 700 million posts between 2014 and 2015. Apple Watch has not exactly beaten the other famous brands, such as Tag Heuer and Rolex yet. Here is the full list of top luxury watch brands:
“All brands made it to the Love quadrant. The most significant change is the introduction of the Apple Watch. It quickly became the largest brand in the category, clearly benefiting from an existing distribution network and brand strength. Apple Watch is so popular that it actually rescaled the graph, and mentions were considerably higher between 2014 and 2015.”
According to NetBase, Apple Watch got the biggest increased Net Sentiment, while some other popular brands got a decrease. Here are the brands, which got the increased Net Sentiment:
- Apple from 33 to 58
- Rolex from 79 to 85
- Movadao from 83 to 86
The other brands, which got the decrease are:
- Curren from 71 to 65
- Tag Heuer from 88 to 84
- Patek Philippe from 82 to 80
Overall, Apple made a strong showing on NetBase’s list, which awarded the overall top spot of the best luxury brand to Chanel. Apple as a company came at No. 4 while the iPhone was ranked No. 11, and the Apple Watch came in at No. 13. The iPad, meanwhile, dropped off the list completely compared to previous years.
