PlayStation hardware gets its second price increase in under a year starting April 2, pushing the PS5 Pro to $900 and standard models up by $100.
Sony confirmed the hikes across its entire current lineup, citing "continued pressures in the global economic market." The PlayStation Portal remote player also jumps $50 to $249.99.
The disc-drive PS5 moves from $549.99 to $649.99, while the digital edition climbs from $499.99 to $599.99. Both represent a total increase of $100 since last August's previous adjustment.
Most dramatically, the premium PS5 Pro leaps from $749.99 to $899.99, a $150 premium that brings Sony's flagship console within striking distance of four figures.
Component shortages driven by AI industry demand have pushed memory prices skyward, forcing hardware makers to pass costs to consumers.
When launched in November 2020, the standard PS5 carried a $499.99 price tag for disc models and $399.99 for digital versions. The new pricing puts Sony's consoles directly against Microsoft's Xbox Series X at $649.99 and Nintendo's Switch 2 at $449.99.
"a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering , high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide."
Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated this in a PlayStation Blog post.
UK buyers face £90 increases across all models (approximately $120), while European markets see similar adjustments.
