Samsung's latest software push delivers simultaneous updates across six core applications while preparing monthly security patches and extending flagship camera features to last year's models. The company released updates for Always On Display, Personal Data Intelligence, Samsung Cloud, Contacts, Phone, and Voice Wake-Up applications this week.

The Always On Display update specifically improves "visibility of Now Bar in Light/Dark mode" and fixes other interface errors, while Samsung Cloud receives a redesigned interface showing backup status for apps and data.

These app updates currently target the new Galaxy S26 series but may expand to older devices soon. Samsung confirmed the changes through its standard update channels, with details emerging from multiple sources tracking the company's software distribution.

Separately, Samsung detailed its March 2026 security patch addressing 65 vulnerabilities across Android devices. Only five issues are unique to Galaxy hardware, with eight classified as critical severity. The security update follows a delayed February patch that reached devices toward the end of last month.

New Galaxy S26 owners in South Korea received their first software update this week, a 557MB package delivering the February security patch on Android 16-based One UI 8.5, marking the debut of Samsung's latest software version. The update carries build numbers S941NKSS1AZC7 for Galaxy S26, S946NKSS1AZC7 for S26 Plus, and S948NKSS1AZC7 for S26 Ultra models.

Samsung plans broader international rollout in coming weeks following the Korean deployment. Users can check for updates through Settings > Software Update > Download and Install when available in their region.

In parallel development, Samsung explores bringing Virtual Aperture camera functionality from Galaxy S26 to last year's S25 series through software updates. Currently limited to main cameras via Expert RAW app on S25 devices, expansion to telephoto lenses would enhance portrait photography capabilities by simulating different aperture settings for background blur control.

The company previously offered physical variable apertures on Galaxy S9 (2018) and S10 (2019) models before removing the hardware component.

Security patch distribution continues across approximately 25 device models including Galaxy A, M, F series and tablets despite March timing. February updates reached Galaxy S22 lineup with build version S90*NKSS8GZB2, while Galaxy A33 received A336NKSSEGZB2 build in South Korea.

Samsung's multi-pronged software approach arrives as Galaxy S26 preorders set records in South Korea with 1.35 million units ordered between late February and early March, with the premium Ultra model accounting for 70% of total preorders.
