Samsung Display unveiled a smartphone-replacing AI OLED pendant and multiple display innovations at CES 2026 in Las Vegas on January 5. The company described the necklace-shaped device as a futuristic AI product designed to replace traditional smartphones.
The AI OLED pendant features a 1.4-inch circular OLED display and operates primarily through voice commands. Samsung Display officials explained that OLED technology's thin, lightweight nature makes it optimal for securing battery space in compact AI devices. The pendant enables intuitive control and information verification through its display, enhancing AI agent utility.
Alongside the pendant, Samsung Display showcased an AI OLED remote with a 1.3-inch circular display that integrates and controls various home AI devices. The company also exhibited an AI mirror with a 13.4-inch circular OLED that uses a front camera to check skin condition and provide AI-based beauty advice. Additional concepts included an AI earphone case and AI headset, both featuring circular OLED displays for music playback and settings adjustment without separate smart devices.
Samsung Display revealed next-generation foldable panels with approximately 20% shallower creases compared to 2025 models. The improved panels reduce image quality degradation caused by light reflections in the folding area. According to the company, shallower creases improve visibility, enhance visual satisfaction, and reduce finger-catching sensations during touch input.
The display innovations extend beyond wearable concepts. Samsung Display demonstrated its Mont Flex foldable display technology, which showed minimal visible creasing in prototypes. The technology could potentially power future foldable devices, including rumored collaborations with Apple on an iPhone Fold display.
Samsung also showcased a QD-OLED TV reaching 4,500 nits peak brightness, representing a significant leap from current models. The company achieved this through improved light efficiency, enhanced TFT circuitry, and more sophisticated timing controllers. For gaming, Samsung displayed a 34-inch 360Hz V-stripe monitor covering 99% of the DCI-P3 color space.
Automotive applications included an 18.1-inch flexible L-shaped center information display, a 13.8-inch passenger display that hides in the dashboard, and curved 30-inch rear seat entertainment screens. Samsung Display emphasized durability by demonstrating foldable panels surviving basketball impacts during stress tests.
The company's CES 2026 presentation focused on "an era of new experiences created by artificial intelligence and displays." Samsung Display's broad portfolio of OLED innovations positions the company to compete across multiple device categories as AI integration becomes increasingly central to consumer electronics.
