Garfield is leaving the kart for a 3D platformer. Microids and OSome Studio announced Garfield: Escape from Monday for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a September 24 release date. The "veggie filled" platformer marks a genre pivot for the franchise after two kart racing titles. Garfield Kart: Furious Racing hit Switch in 2019, followed by Garfield Kart 2: All You Can Drift in September 2025.
Escape from Monday is the first proper 3D action-platformer starring the lasagna-loving tabby. The premise is absurd in the right ways. After Jon feeds Garfield spinach lasagnas inspired by Chef Monday's recipe, the cat falls into a nightmare world full of vegetables and sugar-free candy. The goal: eat enough lasagnas to wake up and restore his taste buds.
Gameplay revolves around three distinct costumes that grant special abilities. A turkey suit lets Garfield fly. A surfer outfit lets him slide across water. A cowboy costume gives him a lasso for swinging across gaps.
Core platforming includes wall-climbing, curling into a ball, and the series staple of always landing on your feet. The full cast returns. Jon assists Garfield, joined by Odie, Arlene, and Pookie on the friendly side.
Nermal and Squeak show up as archenemies. The game spans three worlds with dozens of levels. Collecting lasagnas and other items lets players decorate and renovate rooms in Jon's house, adding a customization layer beyond the main campaign.
Escape from Monday launches on all four platforms simultaneously on September 24. A debut trailer has not yet been released.
