Lionsgate confirmed AAA video game opportunities for John Wick and mentioned Saw gaming opportunities during its Q2 2026 earnings call. Chairman Adam Fogelson stated formal reveals will arrive soon for both franchises.
The studio sees "increased interest and increased opportunity" for high-budget gaming expansions, according to Fogelson's comments via Seeking Alpha. He described the projects as "meaningfully additive financial opportunity coming in the coming years."
John Wick currently lacks a dedicated AAA game despite the franchise's decade-long cinematic success. Previous adaptations include 2019's tactical strategy game John Wick Hex and virtual reality title John Wick Chronicles. The character has appeared in Fortnite, Payday 2, and Call of Duty through crossover skins.
Saw's gaming history includes 2009's Saw and 2010's Saw 2: Flesh & Blood, which received mixed reviews. Jigsaw has since appeared in Dead by Daylight. The new adaptation could follow the asymmetrical multiplayer trend established by The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Evil Dead: The Game.
Lionsgate first explored John Wick gaming opportunities in 2022 when CEO Jon Feltheimer mentioned fielding proposals. "We believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of John Wick," Feltheimer said at the time. The studio continued discussions through 2023 with Motion Picture Group president Joe Drake.
The move represents a strategic shift from low-risk licensing deals to full-scale AAA production. Lionsgate previously favored crossover appearances and smaller titles like John Wick Hex over major development investments.
Both franchises maintain active fan bases with Saw celebrating over 20 years and John Wick marking a decade. The studio's broader IP portfolio includes The Hunger Games, Blair Witch, and Twilight, though Fogelson specifically named Wick and Saw for immediate gaming expansion.
No development studios or release windows have been confirmed. Fogelson indicated additional gaming announcements beyond the two flagship franchises will follow in the near term.
