A 2023 Grand Theft Auto 6 plot leak dismissed as fake has gained credibility through new legal disclosures, revealing protagonist Lucia abandons a baby before her prison release. The leak emerged alongside development concerns that Rockstar Games developers are not '100% certain' about its November 19, 2026 release date.
The plot details surfaced in a Reddit post one month before Rockstar dismissed an employee for allegedly leaking GTA 6 information in November 2023. That leak correctly predicted Jason would pick Lucia up from prison, a scene confirmed in the game's December 2023 trailer.
According to the revived leak, Lucia leaves her child at a delicatessen before robbing a bank, with the baby appearing only in flashback cutscenes. "After a few years, Lucia gets released on probation, she's picked up at the prison by Jason, who's planning a robbery with her, and they'll fall in love with each other after some time," the leaker stated.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier reported on January 8 that GTA 6 remains "still not content complete." Developers continue finalizing missions and determining what content makes the final cut before moving to bug fixing stages.
"I don't think anyone at Rockstar could tell you with 100% certainty that they will make it out in November," Schreier said during the Button Mash podcast. The game has been delayed multiple times, moving from Fall 2025 to May 2026 before settling on November 19, 2026.
Sony reportedly treats GTA 6's release as a first-party event despite its multiplatform status, planning PlayStation's entire 2026 calendar around avoiding the "blast zone." Marvel's Wolverine targets September or October release specifically to avoid competing with Rockstar's title.
The leak also suggests GTA 6 will incorporate expanded Red Dead Redemption 2 mechanics, including a threat detection system similar to dead-eye targeting. Rockstar has focused on detailed search mechanics inspired by its western predecessor.
Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij noted the franchise remains "stuck in this loop of about five American cities," with GTA 6 returning to Vice City. The series has cycled through Liberty City, Vice City, San Andreas, Los Santos, and Las Venturas since 1997.
Take-Two Interactive's fiscal year extends through March 2027, providing potential leeway for another delay if needed. Sony's alleged planning around the release suggests industry-wide anticipation for one of gaming's most significant launches in recent years.
Rockstar suffered a major data breach in September 2022 that leaked nearly 100 development videos, followed by official silence until the first trailer arrived 15 months later. The studio faces ongoing legal disputes with former employees over alleged information leaks.
