YouTube Music appears to be working on a new redesign of its Now Playing interface, as revealed in leaked images shared on Reddit. While the platform recently abandoned its previous revamp, these pictures showcase an updated version of the music app, featuring several new buttons and enhancements, including the introduction of a carousel.

The rumored redesign brings notable changes to the Now Playing interface. Firstly, the top corner no longer displays the "Playing from" text, which was part of the now-abandoned mid-November redesign. The album cover now occupies slightly more space, and the rounded corners have become more prominent.

Certain elements, such as the video/song switcher, overflow menu, and Cast button, remain largely unchanged. The alignment of the artist and song name has been adjusted to the left, similar to the now-discarded YouTube Music Now Playing redesign on Android. The most significant addition is the introduction of a carousel, which presents users with a range of actions, including downloading, sharing, and saving favorite songs. The familiar thumb up/down buttons have been retained but are now positioned within a separate section on the far left of the carousel, just below the song/artist name.

It's worth noting that YouTube Music had previously launched a Now Playing update for Android devices in mid-November, only to revert to the old design at the beginning of this year.

However, despite the potential improvements, one highly anticipated feature that is still missing from the rumored new redesign is a live lyrics function. Many users have been clamoring for this feature, which is already available on competing platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. The inclusion of live lyrics in YouTube Music's Now Playing interface remains uncertain, and it is yet to be determined if and when this feature will be introduced.

As YouTube Music continues to explore new design possibilities, these leaked images offer a glimpse into the potential changes and enhancements that users may experience in the near future.
