Recent leaks from XDA Developers and other sources indicate that Xiaomi has partnered with Samsung to use their HMX 108MP ISOCELL cameras on four of its devices. We will see one of these cameras on the Mi Mix Alpha device by Xiaomi that is scheduled for release in December 2019.
Out of the four devices featuring the 108MP Samsung sensor, there was one codenamed “Tucana”. There was no additional information regarding this device apart from the fact that it will feature a 108MP primary camera. However, the Tucana smartphone was recently spotted on Geekbench, which reveals a lot about the upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Tucana Spotted on Geekbench
Geekbench is a smartphone benchmark software which is used to gauge and compare a smartphone’s performance with other smartphones in its database. The appearance of the Xiaomi Tucana suggests that someone ran a Geekbench benchmark test on a prototype of this phone.
The Geekbench report reveals a lot about the upcoming Xiaomi smartphone’s specifications and its performance. The Xiaomi Tucana received a single-core score of 545 according to Geekbench’s performance index. The multicore score was 1690 for the Tucana, which is similar to the PocoF1 by Xiaomi.
Xiaomi Tucana Specifications and Features
According to the Geekbench scores, the Tucana will not be a flagship phone. However, it will be a mid-range smartphone with a remarkable 108MP primary camera sensor. The Geekbench report also reveals that the Xiaomi Tucana will have a Snapdragon processor with 8 cores. The base clock frequency of the processor of the octa-core Snapdragon processor will be 1.80GHz, which points towards a Snapdragon 600 series processor.
The variant that was tested came with 6GB RAM and was running Android 9 Pie which leads us to believe that the device will not have Android 10 out of the box.
There is no more information about the upcoming Xiaomi ‘Tucana’ smartphone yet. The device will certainly be marketed on the 108 MP primary camera. The Bright HMX ISOCELL sensor by Samsung is also expected to be on the upcoming Galaxy S11 by Samsung and the Mi Mix Alpha by Xiaomi. It features a 0.8um pixel with ISOCELL Plus technology. It has increased sensitivity towards light, which will result in better images in low light. It will also have video recording support up to 6K resolution.
