Sneak peeks of Xiaomi’s upcoming smartwatch have been floating on the internet for quite a while now. Xiaomi has now released another teaser for the Chinese market, which shows the UI of the upcoming smartwatch from Xiaomi. The teaser also confirms a vital specification of the forthcoming Xiaomi smartwatch.
Xiaomi Posts a Teaser for its Upcoming Smartwatch
The teaser was posted on the Chinese social networking website Weibo. It focuses on the specifications of the upcoming Mi smartwatch.
There were rumors of the upcoming smartwatch from Xiaomi containing a Snapdragon chipset, but the teaser confirms the existence of a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor in the upcoming Mi Watch.
The Snapdragon Wear processor is an SoC made specifically for wearable devices like smartwatches. It contains a 4x ARM Cortex A7 quad-core CPU that runs on 32-bit architecture. The GPU on the SoC is an Adreno 304.
The Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipsets offer Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity as well as GPS. These features are bound to be present in the upcoming Xiaomi smartwatch as the processor used in them includes these features. Additionally, Xiaomi revealed earlier that the upcoming smartwatch would have NFC support, which will make it easier to make payments at stores that support the NFC payment option.
A recent hands-on video of the device showcases how the dial on the smartwatch is being used to control the UI. The UI design and the dial control features are reminiscent of the Apple Watch.
Xiaomi’s Upcoming Smartwatch Confirmed Features and Expected Release
Xiaomi has confirmed a lot of the features of the upcoming smartwatch. Some of the features are the inclusion of eSIM support, an inbuilt speaker, a high capacity battery as well as a linear vibration motor to provide haptic feedback.
The smartwatch runs on the Google Wear OS, which is the Android OS optimized for smartwatches. The OS has, however, been customized by Xiaomi and it is being called the Mi Wear OS.
The design features of the smartwatch include a square watch face, a dial to control the interface, and the availability of two color options for straps – black and white.
The features of the upcoming Xiaomi smartwatch look appealing. The device may have good sales upon launch depending on the price at which they launch the product. Cheaper wearables from Xiaomi like the Mi Band 4 are a popular market choice, so Xiaomi may price the upcoming smartwatch aggressively.
Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of its first smartwatch on 5th November in an event in China. The same event will be used to release the Mi CC9 Pro and other Xiaomi products.
