Xiaomi Redmi K30 Already in the Works – Will be a 5G Phone

Redmi K30

It would seem as if the Redmi K20 was launched just the other day. You would think to discuss its successor this early might be nothing but speculation. However, unlike the normal cases where such information on upcoming smartphones are leaked by some insider unofficially, this time, the news on the Xiaomi Redmi K30 has come directly from the horse’s mouth, Lu Weibing, the General Manager, Redmi.

The Only Revelation is about the 5G Support

The tweet that the GM of the Redmi brand put out in his native Chinese doesn’t reveal anything about the Redmi K30 except that it will “support full Netcom 5G!”. In reality, there is hardly anything else known about this new device so far. The only thing you could do is to make some educated guess on what the Chinese major would fit the new smartphone with after taking into account what one knows is already there in the Redmi K20. After all, Xiaomi has to bring in some enhancements in the specifications in a successor device.

The Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro Had Decent Specifications

To put this in perspective, the Redmi K20 Pro released a few months back, comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. Will Xiaomi use the Snapdragon 855+ Soc in the Redmi K30? Similarly, the RAM is already 8 GB. Will it be bumped to 12 GB? Take the battery size; it’s a decent 4,000 mAh. Will you expect the battery to be fitted on the Redmi K30 be 4,500 or 5,000 mAh?

The Redmi K20 Pro has a triple camera setup on the rear with a motorized pop-up selfie camera. It will take some effort on Xiaomi’s part to improve upon these specs and features. The 5G support will definitely be seen in a different light. Xiaomi only has the Mi Mix 3 offering 5G support. The Redmi K30 will be the first in this sub-brand to be sold for 5G users.

One will have to wait a little longer to know directly from Redmi when it plans to bring out the new phone.
