Xiaomi Play to be released on December 24 could be Rebranded Poco F1

Xiaomi is planning for a launch event in China on December 24, but there is no official confirmation on the model the company plans to release that day. A teaser appearing on popular Chinese social media site Weibo indicates it is a smartphone linked to gaming and therefore it must be the Xiaomi Play smartphone.

The image leaves you with no doubt that the phone will be called the Xiaomi Play.

No Details Revealed but It Could be the Poco F1 Rebranded

Xiaomi had launched a smartphone the Xiaomi Poco F1 for the Indian market around 3 months back and it is now believed that the same phone may be launched in their home country as the Xiaomi Play. The Xiaomi Poco F1 had some impressive features, with the RAM varying from 6 GB to 8 GB and the internal storage memory capacity from 64 GB to 256 GB. The processor fitted is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.  The phone has a large 6.1 inch full HD display and the screen resolution 2245 x 1080 pixels.

The Poco F1 phone is loaded with the latest Android Pie version 9.0 OS and has a massive 4000 mAh battery. No wonder Xiaomi positioned this phone in the Indian market as a gaming smartphone since, with these specifications and features, avid gamers could spend hours playing on this phone without worrying about the battery draining out fast. And then there is the Quick Charge 3.0 to boot; so, even if you run out of gas, just recharge and be on the way again to gaming glory.

Continuing with the specification of the phone which, in all probability, will be the Xiaomi Play to be released on December 24, it has a dual 12 MP + 5 MP cameras setup in the rear and a big 20 MP sensor at the front for selfies.  There is the physical fingerprint sensor in the rear as well. The front camera has the support for IR facial unlocking of the phone.

Now if Xiaomi keeps all these specifications the same in the Xiaomi Play too, you can guess the price the phone may be sold at, based on the prices in India. The top end 8 GB / 256 GB variant of the Xiaomi is being sold for INR 28,999 (around CNY2810 or $407).  The other variants are priced lower than this.

Wait till December 24 to be sure of these details or official confirmation from Xiaomi before that.
