Xiaomi has released its Mi5 handset in April 2016 and in April 2017 it has unveiled its Mi6 smartphone. Today we will compare these two devices and let you decide if you want to go with the older variant or just wait for the new one to hit the stores.
The Xiaomi Mi5 measures 144.6×69.2×7.3mm and weighs 129 or 139 grams (multiple variants). It has a 3D glass body that’s curved at the edges and the glass blends seamlessly into a metal frame, On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi6 is thicker and heavier as it measures 145.2×70.5×7.5mm and weighs 168 grams, respectively 182 grams (ceramic). The design is similar and Xiaomi has released the device in 11 variants of colors.
The two devices come with an IPS LCD display of 5.15-inch that supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at 428 ppi.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Xiaomi Mi5 comes in three variants, as follows:
- Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820;
- Processor: dual-core Kryo CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and a dual-core Kryo CPU clocked at 1.36GHz (Standard Edition); dual-core Kryo CPU clocked at 2.15GHz and a dual-core Kryo CPU clocked at 1.6GHz (Prime & Pro Editions);
- Graphics card: Adreno 530;
- RAM: 3GB of RAM (Standard and Prime Editions) or 4GB (Pro Edition).
The Xiaomi Mi6 features a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset, a quad-core Kryo CPU clocked at 2.45GHz and a quad-core Kryo CPU clocked at 1.9GHz, an Adreno 540 graphics card and 6GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Mi5 has been released in three internal storage variants of 32GB (Standard Edition), 64GB (Prime Edition) and 128GB (Pro Edition). On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi6 comes in two internal storage variants of 64GB and 128GB. The two devices don’t feature a card slot for storage expansion.
The Xiaomi Mi5 sports a primary camera of 16MP that features phase detection autofocus, OIS, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and a secondary camera of 4MP. The Xiaomi Mi6 has a dual-primary camera of 12MP that features phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, HDR and a secondary camera of 8MP.
The Xiaomi Mi5 has a non-removable battery of 3000 mAh, which is slightly less powerful than the 3350 mAh non-removable battery that the Xiaomi Mi6 comes with.
