Xiaomi has become an important player in the smartphone game. One of their most famous devices is the Xiaomi Mi Max, a smartphone that can double up as a tablet as well. The Xiaomi Mi Max thus is something that modern day users like to call a ‘phablet’. This term has entered the tech jargon in order to describe a smartphone that is also big enough as to be considered a tablet by some standards. And the Xiaomi Mi Max does fit into that category.
Xiaomi Mi Max Gets OS Update
But enough about that, let’s get to the real news at stake here: the Xiaomi Mi Max is getting an update for Andrid 7.0 Nougat through its beta MIUI program. And besides all the features that have to do with the Android Nougat, the Xiaomi Mi Max also gets a security patch integrated in this operating system update.
However, there is one drawback at the moment. According to message boards and tech forums, only the 3GB RAM variant of the Xiaomi Mi Max is getting Android Nougat right now. However, the company has announced that this issue is only temporary, and the 4GB RAM Xiaomi Mi Max Prime will also get Android 7.0 Nougat soon enough. That would be only fair, after all. Still, this update fragmentation is very annoying still, so we’re thankful that Android O aims to fix it through Project Treble (more on that in another article).
The Xiaomi Mi Max gets Android Nougat on its MIUI under build number v18.104.22.168.NBCMIED ROM, while the Xiaomi Mi Max Prime gets MIUI v22.214.171.124.NBDMIED. The Xiaomi Mi Max is the largest smartphone produced by the company, so we’re glad to see it advance into the new OS era and get Android Nougat.
