After having launched its Mi 8 Pro flagship smartphone in the Chinese market just a fortnight back, Xiaomi is now releasing the phone in Taiwan today, October 23. As reported already, the Xiaomi Mi 8 pro is an improved version of the Mi 8 launched a few months back.
In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Added
One of the major changes made from Mi 8 in the Mi 8 Pro is the inclusion of the in-display fingerprint sensor. This gives the phone an additional flavor to claim the high-end status with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC processor and 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. As for the other specs, the display is 6.21 inches. The full HD+ Super AMOLED display has a screen resolution of 2248x1080pixels.
On the camera front, there is a dual camera setup having 2 identical 12MP sensors and in the front, for taking selfies is a large 20MP shooter. Optical zoom, OIS and other latest features embellish the cameras to offer great imaging experience to the users. The Mi 8 had a physical fingerprint sensor in the rear panel and by having the under-display unlocking mode using the fingerprint, Xiaomi is trying to push this model right up there to compete with the best in the business.
The Variants and Prices
As mentioned, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is sold in 2 variants, 6GB RAM combined with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM combined with the same 128GB on-board storage. In Taiwan, Xiaomi plans to sell this new phone on its site Xiaomi Mall and offline, the Mi Stores will be retailing the phone. The price for the 8GB and 128GB RAM/ROM combination will be NT$15,999 (roughly $516). The price in Taiwan for the other variant is still to be disclosed. The same phone, Mi 8 pro, 8GB/128 GB, when launched in China was priced at 3,599Yuan, which is the same price quoted above in Taiwan. The other variant 6GB/128GB in China sells at 3,199Yuan ($465). It can be expected that the price will be the same in Taiwan when the lower variant is sold there as well.
The dates for the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 8 in other markets are still awaited.
