Xiaomi Devices Getting Latest Android Nougat Update

Android is the number one mobile operating system in the world. Most devices on the market use it, and there are few contenders for it besides the iOS (which holds a small market share due to it being limited to Apple devices only). The current version of Android that either already is on or will shortly come to devices worldwide is Android Nougat.

Google are currently working long and hard on Android O, or Android 8.0.0, in order to stabilize and optimize it for its public release this fall. However, there are a lot of devices that still didn’t get Android Nougat, and Xiaomi smartphones are among them. But the wait is over for Xiaomi users out there. Selected models of Xiaomi smartphones will soon get an update to Android Nougat, after having ran on Android Marshmallow for a bit too long now.

The Xiaomi smartphones getting the Android Nougat update are as follows, in no particular order:

  • Xiaomi Mi 5
  • Xiaomi Mi 5s
  • Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus
  • Xiaomi Mi Note Pro
  • Xiaomi Redmi 4X
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X

There are also some Xiaomi devices that ran Android Nougat, but will soon get an update to some newer versions such as Android Nougat 7.1 or Android Nougat 7.1.1. These are:

  • Xiaomi Mi Max 2
  • Xiaomi Mi 6
  • Xiaomi Mi 5
  • Xiaomi Redmi 4X

All in all, Xiaomi users are in for a collective treat after their devices finally update to Android Nougat or newer versions of it. And for the future, all Xiaomi devices that will come out will run with Android Nougat 7.0 or Android O out of the box.

What do you think? Do you think Android Nougat came a bit too late to Xiaomi? Let us know in the comment section below.
