It’s no secret that Microsoft is one of the biggest names in the console game. Their Xbox line is full of amazing devices, and now the one to rule them all is on its way. The Xbox One X, formerly known as Project Scorpio, will launch on November 7 this, so mark the date and get excited, because it’s going to be 40% more powerful than any other console on the market. But where does that leave the Xbox One S that launched last summer?

If you already own an Xbox One S, you might feel cheated that Microsoft is putting out a new console so soon. But is it worth forgetting about your One S and getting the One X? Let’s find out.

The Comparison

Although the two consoles look different from one another, they do have some features that are identical. Here they are:

  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) support
  • 4K ULTRA HD video playback
  • 4K Blu-Ray video playback
  • Backwards compatibility

But even though both consoles have 4K support, the gameplay is totally different when it comes to 4K qualities. The Xbox One X is entirely better in this department with its ability to adapt graphics from older games to the console’s new hardware that allows for never seen before quality.

The Xbox One S unfortunately doesn’t support true 4K gaming, just video playback. But that is something entire different. And the Xbox One X also smokes out the Xbox One S when it comes to performance. Microsoft has been blowing its own horn when it comes to how much power they packed into the Xbox One X, but they’ve been speaking the truth about it. The Xbox One X is the most powerful console the market has ever seen. So yes, the upgrade is worth it.
