Even though it’s been two years since Xbox 360 received any attention from Microsoft, the gaming system has just received a new update! The update comes as a complete surprise since Microsoft has been putting all its attention towards its latest Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X gaming systems. To make things even more interesting, Microsoft is said to be currently working on developing the next-generation Xbox One and this makes it even more amazing that it found the time to release something for Xbox 360.
Unexpected Xbox 360 Update
The new update changes Xbox 360’s software version to “2.0.17526.0” and it contains a bunch of software tweaks. Sadly, the update is focused entirely towards improving Xbox 360’s functionality and it doesn’t add any cool features that Xbox One fans are enjoying right now. Nonetheless, here is what Xbox 360 owners need to do in order to check if their gaming system has received the new update:
- Access the main “Settings” panel;
- Select the “System” option;
- Choose “Console Settings”;
- Highlight the “System Info” option and the Dashboard/IP Address info will appear;
- Xbox 360’s Operating System version will be listed right after the Dashboard heading.
OTA Roll Out
If the new update hasn’t arrived, Xbox 360 owners don’t have anything to worry about since Microsoft is rolling it out OTA (over the air). This means that the update will eventually arrive to every Xbox 360 system in due time.
As previously mentioned, the new update doesn’t contain any new features and instead, the update comes with a handful of software tweaks which improve Xbox 360’s stability. The reason why Microsoft probably launched the new update is that it wants to make sure that the backward compatibility system which boasts with nearly 500 titles works without any issues.
