Microsoft wants to make sure that Windows Defender will be able to resist any possible upcoming attacks so the company will add some brand new features. The Creators Updates that will come this fall will make the program more powerful than ever. And this is exactly what Windows users needed.
Even if Windows 10 was untouched by the WannaCry ransomware, many users fear that things might change in the future. So it is a good thing that Microsoft is already taking measures. The Windows Defender upgrades will make it harder for hackers to harm Windows and they will make the users feel safer than before.
The Fall Creators Update
The future Windows Defender update will be available very soon and it will come with an important feature. The program will be allowed to monitor which applications request to modify a protected folder and it will send a notification to users. And you can add any folder to the list of protected folders, and apps as well. The only downsize is that you won’t be able to add Pictures, Desktop, Documents or Movies. And you also might want to make sure that you don’t add too many folders.
Additionally, if the program that wants to access a certain folder is already on Microsoft’s blacklist, the user will receive a warning from Windows Defender and you will be able to block it or enable it. This feature is already out for testing and it will be released for everyone soon.
Application guard, the defense that protects your computer from attacks, will also receive some small upgrades. The update will allow you to use the Application Guard to access your saved passwords, cookies and favorites in the Edge browser. Application Guard is only available in the Windows 10 Entreprise edition.
