Recently, Microsoft has revealed their new Modern Keyboard that comes together with some interesting features. Among these we can count the Fingerprint ID one for the Windows Hello sign-in process, as well as a Modern Mouse.
What Is the Modern Keyboard?
The Modern Keyboard is something that looks identical to the Surface Keyboard. However, the main difference between the two is the fact that the first one offers a fingerprint sensor. Microsoft named it the “hidden fingerprint sensor”, but it is quite easy to spot it, since it is marked by a special key that has a fingerprint symbol on it.
You can find the key on the right of the Alt button, placed on the bottom row. It is in fact placed where the two Windows keys are on the Surface keyboard. The keyboard, which costs $130, is made out of aluminum, which helps it remain robust, but also light. Moreover, you will also get a wireless and wired Bluetooth connection. The rather strange connector port is found in the center, on the back of the keyboard.
The Windows accessory has two AAA batteries that can be recharged. Microsoft declared that the two offer a battery life of two months on a full charge. Moreover, it weighs 419.3 grams or 14.79 oz.
The Modern Keyboard is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8.1 and 8, as well as the Microsoft Windows 10 phone. It also works with other operating systems, even if they are not made by Microsoft, such as Android 4.4.2 up to 5.0, Mac OS 10.10.5 or 10.11.1 and 10.11.4, as well as iOS 8.1 up to 9.2.1.
At the same time, Microsoft announced the release of the Modern Mouse, which borrows the design from the Surface Mouse. It costs $50 and it works only wirelessly.
