Windows 10 April Update is Causing Computers to Randomly Boot and Display a Black Screen

Microsoft started rolling out a major Windows 10 update a couple of days ago and to everyone’s surprise, the new update caused serious glitches to the operating system. The Windows 10 community is usually happy to receive new updates, but this isn’t the case with the latest April 2018 Update because it is causing computers to randomly boot and the screen to turn black.

Windows 10 Community is Outraged

Two days after the April 2018 Update was rolled out, the Windows 10 forum on Reddit started getting flooded with reports from users who were complaining that their computers stopped working. One Reddit user said that after installing the new update, his computer randomly booted and turned to black. To make things even worse, the glitch also causes an error message to pop up, but it cannot be accessed.

Not the First Time

We should mention that this is not the first time that Windows 10 users have been faced with this type of glitch. Take for example the update that Microsoft rolled out to Windows 10 on May 14 which did the same thing. Microsoft moved quickly and patched the bug, but it looks like this isn’t happening with April 2018 Update.

“Tried the update on my Dell and all I got was a black screen with a mouse, then on my Asus I get the black desktop screen with only the recycle bin icon” said a user named “SUNM1” on the Microsoft community forum.

Avast Antivirus is Being Blamed

The interesting thing about this Windows 10 glitch is that the issue might not be coming from Microsoft. Some Reddit users who are affected by this glitch are saying that their computers were running Avast when the black screen glitch happened. From the looks of it, Avast might be the culprit because the black screen glitch is not a widespread issue.
